UCSF MEPN 2017

With just a few weeks to go before the application opens...

Any thoughts, questions, advice or information to share as we anxiously prepare?

Thank you for starting this thread. Definitely on the anxiously preparing boat as well! The website indicates the application opens July 5th. Crazy soon..

Best of luck to you! It's going to be quite the ride.. I've been reading these forums for years and I can't believe I'm finally doing this.

Yes, I agree, it's been quite a journey! I'm excited to finally apply though! Yeah I saw that the application officially comes out July 5th. Best of luck to you all too! Anyone else interested in applying towards Pediatric NP?

Good luck to us all!! App opens next week, hope you all are gearing up. It'll be a crazy 8 months or so before we find out where our efforts take us. I am excited to see what this application cohort is like.

Same to you as well! My statistics course is going to expire in a year.. so it's now or never. I'm interested in applying to Pediatric NP as well @smags.

Thank you for starting this thread! I've been stalking the old threads and I'm happy to finally see a thread for this year's applications. I'm super excited and nervous at the same time because UCSF is my first choice. I took the GRE last year but didn't do as well as I hoped so I will be taking it again in 3 weeks. Hopefully everything will work out. Good luck to everyone else who will be applying!

Hi, Guys.

Current MEPN here. Last year when I was applying another MEPN was very kind in answering questions. I just want to pay it forward. If you have any questions about the program or about the application process, please let me know. I'm insanely busy and will probably only check once a week, but I will check. Good luck to everyone. It's a great program - tough - but great.

I also took the GRE last year and didn't do so hot. I talked to Steven Johnson last week and he said to shoot for a minimum of 144 on the quant section, 155 on verbal and 4.0 for AWA. I'm retaking mine in a couple of weeks and am soooo nervous. I feel like it's my last hurdle! Good luck.

The GRE is only a minor hurdle relative to the overall application. Spend time on your statements of purpose and really know why you want to become a nurse. This will come up during the interview process.

Thank you for the insight. I've already begun writing my statement of purpose and hope I'm going in the right direction.

Hopefully the program is going well for you!

He said 144 on the Quant Section? That's manageable! I'm surprised, I thought the website said 155 for both sections. Good luck!

Hey there! Thanks so much for your message and for giving us your input. What specialty are you in? What's the toughest part about the program for you and what do you like the most?

Hey! What specialty are you applying for and how's the application process going for you? I'm still waiting on a couple letters of rec to come in and working on my statements!!! I'm applying for PMHNP.
