  1. hi guest2016, CNA! I wanted to ask you how things worked out for you as I am currently in a similar situation between UCSF and SFSU. thank you for any input and advice!
  2. congrats!!! i think there should be a facebook group soon of the cohort I'll let you know once it's established :)
  3. Hi there @guest2016, CNA! I was wondering if I could PM you somehow... I saw that you were accepted into the SFSU ELM-A program and I would love to hear more about it! Also... I believe I am in a similar predicament as you a year ago. I saw that you went through a MEPN interview at UCSF. May I ask you what program you decided to be in the end? Thank you in advance for any help / feedback! -smags
  4. just wondering... has anyone received any financial aid yet for the program? thanks!
  5. Hi @mariaangela. thank you! But yes... I understand applying to nursing programs is certainly an arduous process... but honestly trust the process. If you have the passion, drive, and determination, it will show on paper and in person during an interview! That's what I think I like about Masters Direct Entry programs is that you have a really diverse cohort entering the program, with great diversity of experiences and backgrounds! I know it's easier said than done, but try your best not to compare yourself to others, because each person applying to these programs have something unique and special to add to a nursing school. I can share a bit of my background though. I graduated with 2 Bachelors degrees in Public Health and Psychology. I had health care related experiences throughout college, involved in research, some leadership positions in organizations, taught abroad in a Spanish speaking country for 2 years immediately upon graduating my undergrad, and gained more experience in the local community in SF. Most of my experiences were with underserved and diverse populations. My undergrad GPA wasn't the best, but I strove to improve academically and got high grades in my pre-req courses. As for GRE, SFSU says it only looks at the writing score, so just get at least a 4 on that. As for LOR, make sure you get different recommenders to speak to your abilities in different areas. i think a good strategy would be one from academics (professor), one from professional (work), and one from health care experience (mandatory from SFSU Nursing admissions). I think throughout the process, it's important to me clear that you understand what it means to be a nurse and that you understand the advance practicing role for nursing is as well. best of luck!!! :)
  6. I just got an email saying as of today cohort 23 is completely full, but I am still kept on the waitlisting list if anything happens. But, it's ok because in the end I've been accepted to another nursing programs as of yesterday, so everything happens for a reason!! But of luck to everyone :)

  8. Hi there everyone! I'm currently waitlisted too for the spring 2017 track, so if I don't get in I'll be reapplying for summer 2017 also. I am also taking the HESI Nov. 22nd for SMU! @nana510 could I also ask you how that exam was for you? Thank you!
  9. Hi there! I'm currently on the waitlist too... but I have an interview this upcoming week with SFSU for their ELM-A program, so trying to remain hopeful! :)
