2012 UCSF MEPN Applicants

Published

The MEPN deadline is less than 2 months away, so I thought I'd get a thread started for us 2012 hopefuls!

I'm a first time applicant to the WHNP/CNM specialty, and feel like I've been getting ready to submit this application for so long! I've been working abroad for a public health NGO for the past couple of years and am a trained birth doula. I've finished up all of my prereqs and GREs, selected people for recommendations (including a slightly awkward visit to my undergraduate advisor...), so now I'm just drafting my essays. Does anyone even know what the application is supposed to look like this year? I'm just going off samples I've seen from previous years.

Some days I feel sort of confident about my chances, and other days I feel as though this is a total shot in the dark and definitely not going to work out!

Any other hopefuls out there? And anyone know when the application is actually going to open?

January 27th. Normal envelope, by the way, in case anyone was wondering.

Nothing for me today... But I'm a couple of states away. Siiiiiiigh.

Specializes in FNP.

It came today!!! good news for me at least!!

Congrats, magallanes!!

Big congrats to doulamama and magallanes. I live in SF and sadly, my mailbox did not contain anything from UCSF. As a pessimist, I assume no news is bad news, but perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised later this month.

Wonder if they sent out the rejection letters the same time as the interview invites... Has anyone received an envelope with negative news? I noticed that my web application status still says "Under Review."

*big sigh*

i live in seattle. no news here. the suspense is killing me.

congrats everyone and good luck to all that are still waiting! come onnnn east coast mail!

Hi all! I'm new to the thread. I applied for 2012 too, I live in SF, and no letter yet :( Super bummed if I don't get an interview, but I also applied to UCLA and will be applying to USF and Cal State LA.

Question to those who received a letter with an interview request - did the status of your application change by any chance? Congrats to you! And good luck to the rest of us :)

Congrats congrats! I wonder if they released certain specialties ahead of time and will release other notifications soon?

Hoping that's the case! I'm applying to the nursing health systems and leadership program, and honestly didn't think that there would be many applicants to that specialty.

Greetings all! I am a long time reader of the mepn threads and finally i'm posting something. yay! I must say that y'all are so supportive and kind to each other. Thank you!

Ok, so I received my interview invitation today (I live in SF) for Adult NP (with HIV/AIDS on the side) on Jan. 20th. I see the letter was dated Dec. 2nd. I was expecting the US postal service to be slow since they are beginning to cut $6 billion (to start with) from their budget. Times a changing with everything moving to online-based everything. Goodbye USPS and hello UCSF!! :yeah:

Oh and my online application still says "under review"...happy holidays all!

Congrats!!! Thank you for updating us that your online app still reflects "under review." I still don't know why my heartbeat sped up when I logged in just HOPING for a glimpse that there was a status change. No luck. Hopefully we all receive news soon.
