The MEPN deadline is less than 2 months away, so I thought I'd get a thread started for us 2012 hopefuls!
I'm a first time applicant to the WHNP/CNM specialty, and feel like I've been getting ready to submit this application for so long! I've been working abroad for a public health NGO for the past couple of years and am a trained birth doula. I've finished up all of my prereqs and GREs, selected people for recommendations (including a slightly awkward visit to my undergraduate advisor...), so now I'm just drafting my essays. Does anyone even know what the application is supposed to look like this year? I'm just going off samples I've seen from previous years.
Some days I feel sort of confident about my chances, and other days I feel as though this is a total shot in the dark and definitely not going to work out!
Any other hopefuls out there? And anyone know when the application is actually going to open?
Wow, we must all be on the same wavelength because I was just thinking about this in bed last night (anxiety much?). I can't believe it has been three months...I'm ready to get this show on the road! I just want to know! I seem to remember interview decisions coming around the 5th last year, but I could be wrong. At any rate, it's exciting.
Yep, I've been conscious of today as opening season for news. I'll definitely post as soon as I receive anything, and I hope everyone else will too. Good luck to all!
I just checked my calendar and I received my letter to interview last year on Dec 4. I live in San Francisco, so I was probably one of the first to receive it... It arrived via snail mail. Anyway, any day now!!! Good luck to everyone.
So glad to see some chatter on the thread. I also live in SF, in the Inner Sunset, and work at the UCSF Parnassus campus
emoore25: Do you recall whether your status on the application website also updated around the time you recieved the letter, or did it still say "Under Review."
I'm on the east coast...seriously, I think they need to start sending these notifications by email. :) I don't some big letter-opening moment - just the news! Plus it would save a few trees...

That's what I'm saying! I live in CA but still think sending by email would be perferred...just the anxiety of opening a letter alone is nerve racking.
I do agree that knowing sooner is better than later, but I think an email is a little impersonal. Isn't it nice to have something physical to post up...that is if you get an interview:yeah:, or something to burn if you don't?!
glad to see there are other people being kept awake at night waiting for the letter. i lurked all last year, but thought i'd post this time around.
i double checked my letter as well...dated dec 4. i feel like last year i received the letter on that weekend...so, maybe tomorrow?!?! my heart is racing just thinking about it. ugh.
