UCSD New Grad Residency November 2023

Hello! I know it's a little early, but I just wanted to start a thread for UCSD's New Grad Nurse Residency program that's set to start in November 2023. It looks like there is going to be a webinar on June 7th, and applications will start on (or after) June 16th.

I haven't heard anything, nor has anyone else I know who has been referred to the manager ?

I emailed HR for an update and got a response this morning:

"Thank you for reaching out and I apologize for the delay.  Our nursing management team along with our Nursing Education Team are still working out their final plans for review and interviews.  I am hoping to hear something soon. "

Thanks for emailing the HR! I'm gonna show this text to one of the unit managers at ucsd tomorrow to see if she has heard anything about it yet!

I wonder if there's a way to update your application to add your RN license/other certifications?

Did you guys get the email from HR saying they will be reaching out between now and Aug 31?

Yes it went to everyone who was referred I believe!

I received the email.

Honestly, just writing to share how frustrating it is as a new grad to be given deadlines/dates with an ambiguous response time. I wish they considered that most of us are unemployed and need this job for income. It was frustrating to read that after one week delay, we MAY hear by this week, or Aug 31, OR later. 

Either way, best of luck to all of us.

Agreed.

I'm hoping though, that this delay possibly means that more than 18 openings have occurred since the original posting in June.  Maybe I'm being too optimistic or naive but, like you, I expected something more concrete.

fingers crossed that this delay is fortuitous

I'm thinking (hoping) their delay just means that those that already accepted jobs elsewhere have withdrawn their apps and are out of the mix. I'd rather compete against 300 people versus 400 for 18 spots. I don't think they would increase head count because of the delay, that's usually a budget thing that is decided a year or months in advance.

Hello, guys. I talked to the managers today. One of the managers said "We will be reviewing all the resumes and reaching out to the candidates selected for interviews in the next few weeks.”

So that means they will also be reaching out in September as well. Giving you guys an approximate timeframe, so if you don't hear by august 31, it's expected and don't panic! Personally, I will just chill out ??
 

The ucsd managers are super busy right now due to August 2023 new grad cohort just started!

Has anyone been contacted by any unit yet? Just curious as I see that its going to ride out into September
