Thanks chemincal! This is actually my second time applying. I did in August though I didnt learn about the program until a day before the posting closed. They said I would be lucky if they even got a chance to send me a questionnaire which they fortunately did but I did not get an interview. Hopefully something great comes out of it this time! Anyone heard from they yet?
Hey Everyone,
So after applying and sending in your questionnaire, you will receive an email whether or not your application and resume will be sent to the hiring manager of a particular floor you applied to, from there, the managers will look over each of the applications they get and decide which candidates they would like to interview. They will call the candidates they would like to meet and offer an interview. Hope that helps! This is my 2nd time applying as well... got an interview for the UCSD new grad float pool but didnt get selected (Such a bummer, getting so close...but yet sooo far!!). I'm hoping I have another chance this time.
Anyhow, just wondering what each of your backgrounds are? Do you have medical/hospital experience? (working as CNAs, unit secretary, etc?) Hope to hear from you guys soon.
I'm crossing my fingers for us all!
Hi
Thanks for the info. I graduated from am accelerated nursing MSN program right now I work as a per diem hospice home health nurse. I was a student nurse worker at a hospital ( like a CNA) but for only 4 months. That's my background. I applied for an oncology unit. What is your background ?
Thanks SDchick! After you sent the questionnaire back, how long did it take for you to receive the email about whether or not your application has been sent to a hiring manager? After sending the questionnaire, I received an email from the recruiter acknowledging her receipt of it but that's it.
I have hospital experience working as a perfusionist assistant.
Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone as well!
That's awesome tomato head! I did my preceptorship @ a medical surgical oncology unit so I applied to the Oncology and Med Surg unit for UCSD. I didn't work as a CNA or volunteer during nursing school. My nursing degree is my 2nd bachelors degree (BSN), I previously worked in the clinical research industry for about 5 years. I am currently working at a Nursing and Rehab place as an RN since August. I'm fortunate to have a job but I really want to work at an acute hospital in a formal new grad training program!!!
nicrn7, it took awhile for them to email me the email stating my resume had been forwarded to the hiring manager, maybe about 3-4 weeks upon submitting the questionnaire? Your experience as an perfusionist assistant sounds really good!

Hallo Nurses!
I just applied to the UCSD RN New Grad program and wanted to connect with other nurses who have done the same. I have sent out so many applications and haven't gotten anything yet so am hoping this is it! Good luck us all! Anyone with previous experience about the hiring process at UCSD?
