UCONN CEIN 2020

Published

Hello Everyone,

I noticed there was no forum for UCONN CEIN 2020 entry. I wanted to start one for the accelerated nursing program. A little bit about myself: I have a BA in chemistry, overall GPA of 3.5 and am still finishing up a microbiology and statistics course this semester. I just submitted my application this past January for stamford and waterbury campus and am still waiting to hear back from them. I would love to hear from others about their experiences on this application cycle. Please feel free to share as much as you feel comfortable.

Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone!
I'm about to send all my info on nursingcas but am confused on the last section "Questions" which asks "additional questions"
"Please describe your work experience"
"Describe your nursing (or health care) experience" and 3 other questions.
the word count limit is about 1000 each.

I'm a bit confused because I feel that all these questions are answered in my personal statement & to answer them would just to reword my statement.

Anyone know if we are required to answer these questions? Or did you skip them, as they are not listed on the "Checklist"?

Thank you!

BTW it’s letters not words. So it’s really about a paragraph. They are repetitive but I think they’re required I wouldn’t skip them. Good luck!!!

Hey! I submitted my application last week. My prerequisite GPA thus far is a 3.71, but I am currently taking A&P II and microbio.

My first choice for a campus is Waterbury, with Storrs as my second choice.

Very interested to see how others are holding up as we get closer to the application deadline. The application had so many tiny components to it; it took me three months to complete. Good luck you guys ?

The waiting is definitely tough! The rolling application deadline makes it's especially hard because we don't know when they will be making decisions. Best of luck to you with your classes (I'm also taking Microbiology right now)!

It's character count, not word count. Your responses won't be very long, about a paragraph. I'm pretty sure they are required. The admissions board looks at your application holistically, so any way they can get to know you better is a beneficial thing.

Thank you for your answer! I just felt the questions were repetitive ?
I wish they had asked different types of questions, but oh well ?‍♀️

Update for everyone, just called the CEIN office to ask a question about my course I just completed and the woman told me the committee is meeting tomorrow!

Ah that makes me nervous, but excited! Thanks for letting us know!

Someone also told me recently that they don’t start looking at your application until you have two classes left in progress. Does anyone know if this is true? I’m taking two summer classes (one I’ll finish next week) and one fall class so I’m just wondering if it’ll affect when I’ll hear back with a decision. Thanks!

So I did ask today if they typically waited to review applications missing a course or two and she said they actually give out quite a lot of “provisional acceptances” aka if you get a B or better you’re in...maybe up to 50% she said. She did mention that this is only offered to people with 1 or 2 courses in progress. They might wait to review if you have more.

The person I spoke to was extremely nice and more than willing to provide information so I think it’s totally worth calling to ask for clarification and an update on your status!

Just got accepted to Avery Point campus! Quick turnaround from today's meeting!

That’s awesome! Congratulations!??
