UCLA Summer 2017 RN New Grad Residency

U.S.A. California

Published

UCLAs application for their Summer 2017 New Graduate Residency program opened this weekend so figured I'd start the forum where we could all converse, update and support each other through the LONG and stressful process.

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

From my understanding, the 43.15 an hour is for the duration of the new grad program (1 year), after that, if you are invited to remain as an UCLA employee, you are eligible for raises like any other employee.

Congrats on the offer! When did you get the call?

Oh awesome! do we also get paid differentials? (nights/overtime as well?).

I got a call last Wednesday!

Do you guys know if there is employee parking at UCLA?

No unfortunately I have not.. 😖

Has anyone heard back from MICU or Oncology?

Do you guys know if there is employee parking at UCLA?

There is, but you'd need to pay for it out of pocket

Does anyone know how the structure of the residency program is set up? Like are there projects, competencies, monthly meetings, ect.? Didn't get to cover this during the interview

Was Monday your first interview or a 2nd interview? TIA!

babeinboots,

It was my first and only interview. I interviewed with one of the ICUs.

I just talked to recruitment and the lady told me they will probably be making final decisions within a week or two (but that is not concrete).

Has anyone heard back from Santa Monica 4 North Wing? This wait is brutal!

I have talked to one of the nurses who did the new grad program 4 years ago. She had mentioned there would be class meetings monthly. There is also a quality improvement project that needs to be turned in by the end of the residency program.

For those who were accepted, does anyone know when we will hear more or get more information aside from the phone call/offer email?

According to information in the packet I received at the interview, there is a $6/hr night differential and a $2.50/hr differential for weekends. Overtime starts after 12 hours in one shift and after 40 hours in one week. I think overtime is rated at time and a half, so that would be around $62/hr.
