Hi! I know a few of my friends and family that work at UCSF Parnassus and the new Benioff and being from the Bay Area, I can confirm that this is a top notch hospital to work at! I would have applied to work there but needed a change and decided to work in southern california. I can also confirm that cost of living is high, but I've also lived in NYC, and I can say that if you get temporary living not in the city of SF if can be more affordable! I went to school in the city and many of my friends have had clinical at UCSF and they loved it. Benefits are great too, according to those I know that work there! If I relocate back to the Bay Area UCSF would be one of the places I would choose to work. Even though you are coming out of state, UCSF is one amazing place to work and create connections, and if you are serious about gaining excellent experience and maybe even moving here, I would say anything is possible. There are those that say it is hard since you are out of state so I suggest the temporary housing situation while you are working here! But really UCSF is amazing!! If you can find housing while you are here such as a friend or short term lease that's not in the city of SF while you work your shifts, trust me I went to school in the city, outside is affordable but you would have to commute in! Hope your situation works out, maybe you can move without your family just for a short time to gain experience! Wish you the best :) P.S. Bay area pay is extremely high in comparison to other parts of this state/other states, if money is a factor you will be making a lot, and that's something I look forward to when I come back to the Bay, but being young I like to travel and experience new cities :) Ok long story short yes you can do it! If you have the time, perseverance, and ability to be flexible with your traveling then anything is possible! Welcome to the Bay Area!!

Hi! I got offers in both General Surgery Unit and Telemetry Unit. The General Surgery Unit is at UCLA while the Telemetry Unit is in Seattle. I was attracted to the telemetry unit because I had a rotation on cardiac step down unit which I loved and I knew I wanted to be back on a cardiac type floor someday. The offer at UCLA may not be the floor I want to start on because I don't have any experience rotating on that floor, but maybe I will be able to move to another unit within a year or two while getting that nurse year experience! Thoughts on where I should start?

Hello, So I am currently job searching for my first job as an RN, and so far have had one in person interview and one Skype interview. My first panel interview I was terrified, I could feel my voice shaking! I recently had a panel Skype interview, and boy did not feel too great. My answers I thought were great, but the bad part was that the panel could hear me, but I couldn't hear them! Did not think I would have technical difficulties, but it happened! I even checked the sound with a friend who skyped me earlier in the day and the sound was fine. Also, there was no in person interviews for this hospital because I was out of state, ah. Do interviews get better the more I have them? I'm afraid that I will end of having more and more interviews but not receive job offers may be due to anxiety, or even technical issues. Would love to hear stories about success or unsuccessful interviews, as I hope to one day have a successful interview and where I will finally be able to start the career I always dreamed of, a registered nurse!

Hi all, I had an interview with a hospital that made me sign a paper that I assumed was a contract stating that if I was chosen for the new grad program it is a 2 year stay. During the interview the panel said to read over it and sign it. The bottom of the paper stated such as if I don't stay the full 2 year no recommendations would be given by the hospital, also you need written/verbal explanation to why you are leaving program My question is that this is only the interview and I was given this paper to sign about the 2 year contract If chosen. During the interview I was a little confused because if they call me back next week if they decide to offer me a position in their new grad program that I can't decline the offer? Or will I have the ability to decline the offer? If anyone can shed light on this,

Do you happen to know how many applicants get interviewed and how many are actually hired? I applied for the med/surg units but I'm afraid I may be underqualified in comparison to most who have some sort of healthcare experience!
