UCLA Summer 2017 RN New Grad Residency

U.S.A. California

UCLAs application for their Summer 2017 New Graduate Residency program opened this weekend so figured I'd start the forum where we could all converse, update and support each other through the LONG and stressful process.

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

I interviewed with NICU at the end of May and haven't heard anything back. I received a phone call today to interview with Perinatal. I didn't realize they were still interviewing, but glad to know I'm still in the running! I was starting to feel like they forgot about me in either units.

Anyone heard anything back from NICU or perinatal?

Has anyone actually tried emailing the unit manager you interviewed with and not just HR?

Has anyone heard back from the MICU? Thanks in advance

Actually, change of events. I was just called for a second interview next week. Best of luck everyone!!

Hey! I too have a second interview. Just wanted to know how yours went? I heard they are harder than the first.

Hey Sweettarts123, I actually emailed the unit director two weeks ago and she emailed me back last week. She said the decisions have been made and that I should be hearing from recruitment soon.

Well if we haven't been offered a position by recruitment by now then it's most likely that we probably didn't get the position... ): I already know a few people who accepted a position in NTICU

Hello! Uhmm I would honestly say it depends on the unit. I prepared so much and was super nervous, but I wouldn't really say it was like an interview. It was more of a tour and meeting the nurses and letting them ask me questions and me ask them questions. So much easier and more relaxed than the first really. Hope this helps!

Yes it does! thank you so much! have you heard anything from the department yet?

Hi all,

I recently received an offer from UCLA Health and they are continuing to send out offers to my belief! so keep strong guys and I hope you all hear from HR soon!! To those who got an offer, do you know how long we have to accept this offer (like a time frame?) and does anyone know how the compensation works for us? I know we get paid $43.15/hr as new grads but is that only during orientation through our training period (~6 weeks?). Greatly appreciate all your help~

Hi yjnurse,

Congratulations! I don't quite have the answers to your questions, but I wanted to ask: which unit did you get offered for?

Thanks!

From my understanding, the 43.15 an hour is for the duration of the new grad program (1 year), after that, if you are invited to remain as an UCLA employee, you are eligible for raises like any other employee.

Congrats on the offer! When did you get the call?

Hi dominoBSN,

thanks so much and I heard back last Wednesday for the Surgical Unit 8 West!
