UCLA NP program Fall 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hey all, Starting this thread to find out if anyone else has applied to ucla's np program starting this fall 2013. I applied for Acute care np. Would love to find out who has what information. Best of luck

@murse89 I received the letter by mail. I live in Phoenix. I was told all the letters were sent out on last Thursday, 3/21. So if you live far from LA, it might take a while before your get your letter. My online status still has not changed yet. Don't give up hope yet. Give a week and good luck to you!

has anyone received the email link yet?

I received a letter from UCLA that I am the number 1 on the ALTERNATE LIST (aka wait list) for adult/gero primary NP specialty. Do you guys think there would be high chance of me getting into the program? I have only applied to two schools so far and I am quite depressed ryt now...

Well that's good that u r number 1. Hopefully u will get in. Do u mind telling about your work experience? Since I think I'm not in I'd like to know what I need to do next time. Thanks and best of luck

@mnmary i only have long-term care experience. I worked at express recovery unit for almost one year and also worked as home health nurse for three months at the same time. But that's it. I dont have any acute hospital experience. But i won several awards while i was going to school...

@llzz I still haven't received the email yet. They said the graduate division might be a little bit behind the school. I am hoping by Friday it will be up. Anyone else received their link yet? It sounds like none of the acute care candidates have heard back yet so maybe they are the last wave. I know some students that didnt hear back till mid april.

Hi Sparknine,

I think you have a high chance of getting into the program. My friend, who was on the #5 on the waiting list, got in. We are given about 10 days to accept the offer to enroll the program.

Good luck!!

Hi everyone, I received my email link and graduate division letter online prior to my letter in the mail from the school (which I thought was a bit strange). Hopefully, you'll get yours soon though. I wish they gave us more time to decide though.

Thank you so much Erica for your support! I have been quite depressed after I found out I am on the wait list. My last hope will be there... Hopefully, I can get into the program... sigh...

llzz, from what I understand you received a letter from UCSF. Is that correct? I have not heard anything from UCSF yet. Has anyone else heard from UCSF? I have also applied to SFSU, but no change in status there either.

I received an acceptance letter for the FNP program on March 23. I live in Los Angeles, so it didn't have far to travel. The letter came in a normal sized envelope, which I assumed meant I did not get in. Thankfully, I was wrong. For some reason, I thought an acceptance letter would come in a larger envelope. So that was a little scary at first. LOL. My deadline is also April 5, but I haven't received a link either yet.

I am going to have to take the undergraduate physical assessment course over the summer, because the course I took at the University of Miami (BSN program) did not transfer to UCLA. But that is a good course to take again, so it's all good. Also, I already took a few graduate classes at another school. I heard they can transfer 6 units to UCLA. But I have no idea which 2 courses they will choose. I'd rather retake one of the science based courses than a theory based course. But whatever happens I'm really happy I got in. Most of my nursing friends with whom I graduated in 2009 are already nurse practitioners or CRNA's. I am the slow-poke in the group. lol.
