UCLA New Grad Summer 2014

Published

Hello,

This is for those who applied to UCLA's Summer 2014 New Graduate Residency program, to exchange information and questions.

Thanks! :)

I received my reference check the day after my interview, which was on 5/22. For OR, I hear that they call you first if you got the job before they ask you for references. That's what happened to the March cohorts. Getting a reference check is a good sign, but it does not mean that you have the job until you receive a job offer email/call. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! :)

Ruby, did you interview for OR?

thank you! do you know how many OR are hiring?

I interviewed for Neuro/Trauma ICU on 5/13/14 and got an email for references on 5/20/14. I was interviewed by a panel and it went as good as I think it could've went. I made them laugh a lot which helped my nerves calm down. I was asked to schedule a tour of the unit the first week of June. She had me do this because I live an hour away and she said that was close enough for me to come back to the facility. So far most of my references have been completed I'm just waiting for my date to go back. The UD didn't even call it a second interview, she just said "I want to invite you back so we can show you the unit and talk more". I interpreted that as a second interview. I'm so nervous!! What goes on during the tour besides the tour?

Congrats on your interview!!!! I had a tour of 8ICU right after my interview. The woman who gave the tour was the assistant director and was very knowledgable and charismatic!! It went really well! She spoke a little about the education we would receive as new grads and answered any questions! It was great!

@MsRNAqueeiah were you asked more interview questions during the tour or was it a straight to the point tour where they allowed you to ask questions?

It was straight to the point! You are the one asking the questions! Hopefully that helps! ;)

No I did not. I interviewed for a medical-surgical unit. My friend got into the OR new grad program in March.

So I applied to the NICU and never heard back from them. How come my status never changed since 3/24? I mean, at least they could send you an email and let you know they are not interested... Does anyone know if they NICU positions have been filled by now? ... I feel so bad right now...

Has anyone heard from Telemetry/Observation Units- Ronald Reagan & Santa Monica UCLA or Medical Surgical Units-Ronald Reagan & Santa Monica UCLA? Thank you in advance (:

I applied last cohort and if they are not interested or the positions have been filled, majority of the time, is when your status will change. Until that occurs nothing will happen.... :(

Specializes in Medical/Surgical.

I'm wondering how long people have waited for their reference check email. It seems like the average has been either the next day or up to a week. I interviewed for 8th floor east med/surg on the 22nd and still waiting on the reference email... I'm so anxious now. ugh

I received mine a week after my first interview. I interviewed for Neuro/Trauma ICU, though, and it seems all the units are a little different. I'm sure yours is on the way!
