has anyone received the reference email?

The thing with these personality assessments if you don't answer the same questions but was asked in a different manner, it shows that you're not consistent in your thoughts or feelings. While there's no good or bad answers, there are inconsistent ones. You said "yes" to one question about the way you treat a person, then on the question #12 below, you said "no" to the exact same but rephrased question, you just fibbed or you didn't understand the question, in which you really need to be on top of your game.

With literally thousands of applicants, it's a system to early weed out those that are not sure of themselves or trying to trick the assessment process. I don't think it's a good way to test our true personalities, but it's just something we all have to deal with.

Yeah I wish you weren't so right about this but I was relatively frustrated with a few of the questions that were obviously re-assessing a specific response two or three times. On the other hand, there's a certain subtle difference between a questions saying "are you always on time to work?" and another saying are "are you more punctual than spontaneous? blah blah blah". I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that many of us that got cut were simply out-classed by higher GPAs, better certifications (a la ACLS, PALS, NRP). At least I kinda hope so, otherwise it comes down to the assessment survey and that just makes it awkward.

Perhaps as awkward as the fact that I'm still following this thread :(

im so sorry tasha! i know you will find what you are looking for. when did you apply if you dont mind me asking. if not, good luck with CHLA! :)

does anyone know how the interview process work?

and as far as the reference email, can we put the same people down that we did on the app??

Specializes in Critical Care, Emergency.

I've been following this thread but never replied to it, quick question, are any of you who applied to the ICUs actually do your practicums in ICUs/senior level clinical hours? i have a friend who got into the summer cohort and she informed me that the ICU manager told her she would NOT TAKE ANYONE who wanted ICU without having done a practicum there or senior level clinical hours, just thought I'd share! good luck to us alL! :)

i did my clinical rotation in the NICU. but how would they know??

Newgrad12 - they would know by your resume...hope you put it on there!

Specializes in Critical Care, Emergency.

I put all that on my resume

My class had the UCLA recruiter come in to talk to us and we were told that applicants would not be considered for ICU unless they had a full clinical rotation (not just a day or two) in the ICU. If this is their policy, I wish they had put that on their website, but there you go. Sorry if this is bad news for anyone. Maybe it is more like a guideline and if a manager REALLY likes you they can override it. Good luck all

Someone had asked me about when I applied. I was finished by 12:10am that day. I had already completed the personality assessment about a month earlier when I applied for a ward clerk position. I wasn't rejected from that job so I'm hoping that means I won't get rejected by the system this time. I applied for PEDS, PICU and MED/Surg. Taking my NRP test today and skills tomorrow, so I listed it on my resume as NRP (March 2012), so that if they are scanning for particular things it would show up. I also read UCLA's book "Prescription for Excellence" as recommended by the recruiter that visited our school, and it has a whole section on why they do the personality assessment.

I have heard of rejection emails going out on Sat, Sun, and Monday (today). Very scary!

Check the FB New Grad RN JOBS (Calif.+) page. Someone left an informative message about why she was not selected for the New Grad program despite a solid resume and background.
