UCLA New Grad RN 2013

Published

Hello to all prospective UCLA Nurses!

My name is Matthew and I'm a CSU Long Beach alumnus.

I'm currently working as a Super User RN for the UCLA Health System.

I hope this thread will be able to answer our questions about the application, interview process and a place for any updates anyone receives for the 2013 new grad program.

With that said, I was told by recruitment that applications will be made available in March. :)

Hmm really - did you read that on facebook? It is kinda weird how only two sessions are filled....

No not on facebook

Hey. Just got back from my interview. There were a lot of people for the different units. You get a paper and have to answer two questions. Pretty easy - abt leadership and something you learned in nursing school.

The managers call you back and you follow them to the room. She asked questions specific to my resume and the answers to the questions. Otherwise, basic tell me a time specifically with nicu since I did my preceptorship there.

She said she has more interviews and then she'll let HR know which candidates she wants to hire. She was really nice and attentive.

Thanks so much for letting me know how your interview went! I'm glad it wasn't super stressful. Oh, I thought they would be strict with the 20 minute interview, but that's great your interview wasn't rushed. 20 minutes seems like an extremely short period of time to impress anyone...kind of like speed dating? Hahah... Not that I would know.

Were there other managers in the room conversing with you as well? Or was it just you and the Interviewer? I suppose she just makes the decision after 1 interview then? Since she didn't mention anything about having to do a second interview. Well, thanks again for updating me about your interview...it's very kind of you to do so.

did anyone who applied to L&D, peds, and liver transplant hear anything yet?? still waiting for some news.. ?

People on this forum have spoke about getting interviews for peds and liver transplant. No word yet on L&D. I was wondering the same thing! Don't lose hope! (:

Good luck to all those interviewing tmr for CTICU!!!!

The unit director for CTICU is definitely not a pleasant person. Interviewed with her last year, her body language is not interactive, she stares at the wall, and left to pick up a phone call midway during my interview and never came back. CTICU has a very high turn over rate thus they hire many new grads. I wouldn't be there too long either knowing that a busy unit like CTICU is under that kind of management. Her name was --------------- I think.

does anybody know when HR is suppose to call people back for the CTICU

does anybody know when HR is suppose to call people back for the CTICU

Hi ra7phn, did you have your interview with her today? If so, how'd it go?

I would guess HR would call back after the 16th once the interviews are done.

Does anyone know if they're still making calls to schedule for an interview?

All i can say is that I left the interview happy with my performance and thats all i could ask for. If they decide I'm a right fit for their program then great but if not then its out of my hands, I did what i could. Good luck everybody

Hi Everyone, I interviewed for the PICU on Tuesday and today I received an email for my references to fill out an online questionaire. Does anyone know if this is standard for all applicants or should I be really excited?! Thanks!

I have a friend who isn't on all nurses but she said she got an interview with L&D and it looked like there were two half days of interviewing going on, she said with the unit director.
