You know, the good news is that if they called you for a second interview, then they saw something special about you in the first one. You are a lot closer now to a job offer, so just keep doing what you did in your first interview. Remember to smile and be confident of your answers. You can do this. I hope to meet you during Newgrad classes. :heartbeat
Hi jenyblond007,
Thanks for the kind words!!! I keep telling myself the same thing, I am very excited and looking forward to this interview, I can't wait until the wait and suspense is over!
So I called ucla sm for oncology and they said they will be calling next week. They told me have chosen me but will hear more details next week! I hope this works out! It wont be official in my mind until they call back and give me details. Has anyone for oncology heard back yet?
Hi bukeye nurse-
I've been waiting for someone to reply that interviewed for UCLA SM Oncology! I haven't heard anything yet. Last I tried to contact HR and they directed me to the UD. I figured I'd wait it out a few more days since three weeks is this coming Tuesday. I'm happy you found out that information though. I am super nervous about hearing back! Do you know how many people applied? It looked like 10-15, but I wasn't sure...with 3 positions open, right? Good luck to the both of us! I am assuming we had the same interviewer. I felt that my interview went really well, but who knows. I hope they call earlier in the week than later if the decisions have already been made.
I got a job offer at Santa Monica! Good luck to you all and hope to see some of you in new grad classes :)
SNjacks! I got a job offer at Santa Monica too! I am for PICU as well! So, I guess we will be in residency together! CONGRATS!
do you know how many new grads they took for PICU? Do you know what color the nurses are supposed to wear? Do you know if the shifts are 630-7 or 7-730?
I have so many questions! Excited to meet you!
Hello everyone! Does anyone know when to expect to hear back from UCLA if you interviewed for psych? Thank you and best of luck to all of you!
I interviewed for psych on 11/15 and got an email reply Dec 1st from a nurse manager (Susan), saying they had many more applicants than positions and were unable to offer me a position. I asked in a previous email how many total they were interviewing and where they were at with the interviews, but she didn't say in her response back to me. Hope this helps some, and hope others got job offers in psych.
Hi folks,Wondering if anyone was interviewed and/or given a job offer from the psych department and what you think got you the interview? I applied for psych, got to the second stage of the recruitment process, but then UCLA did not call for an interview. I'd like to know more about their selection process for the second round....thanks! Best of luck to everyone waiting for calls!
Hey there! I can't really say for sure what made me stand out from the others, but in my cover letter, I stated how my personal beliefs are a perfect match with UCLA's mission statement, and added another sentence to further show that. I messed up during my interview, though, when they asked what my goal is in 5 years. Instead of saying to pursue my master's, I gave a general idea of working in psych. And when they asked about my education, I ended up saying something about using UCLA's master program to obtain my master's, but was otherwise "satisfied" with my bachelor's.
Hope this helps some, sorry for the late update! Hope you end up with a job somewhere!
Hello SeptemberRN! I just learned on Wednesday afternoon that I was offered a position in the 4 East Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital! In terms of being called for an interview, something that truly helped me was that I joined the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA).As a member of APNA, I attended APNA's Annual Conference, which is the largest meeting of psychiatric nurses in the country! At the conference, they had an exhibition hall where UCLA Nurse Recruiters had their own booth. I had the opportunity to meet the recruiters there.
It is important to meet the recruiters, make a good impression (as if you are being interviewed), and ask about any questions you have for UCLA. You may also meet recruiters in job fairs, career fairs at school, or nursing student conferences. I was an active member of the National Student Nurses' Association, which is where I had the opportunity to attend nursing conferences and network.
If you have not done so already, take time to join professional nursing organizations and professional student nursing organizations and network. I cannot tell you how much I gained from joining these organizations. Not only do you meet people with similar career interests, but you learn about scholarship opportunities, educational opportunities, and job opportunities.
I hope this helps :). Good luck to you!
Thanks for the update! I'm definitely gonna see if I can join APNA as well. Thanks so much and congrats!!!

Buckeye Nurse, when you called regarding your status did you call HR or the unit manager? I'm curious because I've called HR about my status with the unit I interviewed for and the HR lady generally said I should just wait for a call in a couple of weeks and if it's been over a month and I haven't received a call then I should assume I wasn't selected. Last week was three weeks from my interview, but I learned they still interviewed a few people last week. This week I'm hoping for a call, but am considering whether or not I should call the unit director directly...
Audster I called the ud directly because hr said the ud is he one making the decisions. If you call the ud directly what can it hurt? I think it shows the ud that you are taking the initiative and showing interest in employment.im also very impatient lol so that's why I called. Anyways it can't hurt. Hope you hear some good news soon.
