UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Published

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

i guess UCLA opened their waitlist and I was one of them on that list. I got a call asking if I was still interested and i can schedule a phone interview first.

so has anyone gotten any unit manager interviews or have personally heard something from a manager regarding what the next step is after the in person interviews? or is it just people from the waitlist getting the in person interviews???

I called UCLA today as I may have a potential offer coming soon and I want to make an informed decision. They said they do not have the "list" as to who is moving on, yet, but they anticipate calling people for the next round late next week. Without giving them my name, they encouraged me to take the other offer when it comes. They said that they have interviewed over 300 new grads, and they are still not sure exactly how many they are hiring yet. They also said that they do not want any new grads to pass up any offer for them, and that it might be August before they know for sure who will be offered a position, etc. Does anyone remember when this program is set to start?

Hope this helps. This has been such a long process, but I am sure for those offered positions, it will definitely be worth the wait. Good luck everyone!

I believe it starts in August because last years Nursing Orientation for new grads started Aug 13 & 14, 2009 and was repeated on Aug 20 & 21, 2009. And if my guess is right and they follow the same August schedule because I'm looking at the UCLA Nursing research and education class calender, it has Nursing Orientations set for Aug. 10 & 11 and 24 & 25.

Hi everyone!

I just received a call from the nurse recruiter about an hour ago to schedule an unit manager interview. I guess the next step of the process has arrived. Good luck to you all!

The final stage in the process has arrived...

Just got off the phone with the nurse recruiter...I have my unit manager interview this Tuesday!!! :yeah:

I don't know how many they are calling or how many people are making the calls, but I heard from the Program Coordinator that interviewed everyone, so just a FYI, it may take a while for her to get through the list.

Good luck to everyone! I hope everyone gets a call!! :redpinkhe

Congrats!!!! :yeah: Which unit are you interviewing for?

Specializes in Emergency, Administration.

A good friend just got the call about 30 minutes ago-He's interviewing for the NICU! :) I spoke with the recruiter today, and she said she'll call to schedule me on Tuesday :) Gosh, she's still at work at 7pm on the Friday of a three day weekend...and people say the administrative side is 9-5 M-F. Hah.

Congrats!!!! :yeah: Which unit are you interviewing for?

I'm interviewing for the NICCU! What about you?

I wonder if she's calling by unit to schedule interviews.

Congrats for those who got a phone call! It's funny how the brain works--I just got an offer yesterday from a different hospital, and was also having the same feelings as wannabe07 about what to do because UCLA is my top choice and I'm not sure if I should wait to hear from them. Then just like that, Wannabe07 got a UCLA call and a few others did too. Very cool.

Wannabe07 and others, what departments are you interviewing with? Also, when was your initial interview with the program coordinator?

I just had my in-person interview with the coordinator a week ago, so I'm hoping that I will also hear from them with good news.

Hoping after the unit manager interviews they will make a quick decision. This process is really taking a long time. Almost 3mths. Insane.

Congrats again and wish everyone the best luck!

I am also interviewing for the NICU. :D It must be by units. They are hiring four, I hope we are two of them!! What time is your interview?

Best of luck, I hope you get a call! Looks like they are calling per unit because all of us on here who got calls want NICU. What unit do you want? I interviewed on April 15th with the coordinator. This is an extremely long process but this is the last step. Where is the other offer?
