UCLA MECN 2021

Hi everyone!

I am planning on applying to UCLA's MECN program for 2021 and since I did not see a thread here yet I wanted to get one going for us to share questions and concerns. Good luck to everyone!

Same Western it is...what is meant to be will be ? the end goal is to be a nurse. Be well all and  keep on the journey no matter the obstacle.

Rejected too. Still holding on to some hope since I got invited to interview at UCI ?

I wish you all the best of luck and congrats to everyone who got accepted either at UCLA or somewhere else! Enjoy you break as much as possible because nursing school is no joke. See you all in the business soon ?

rejected as well ? Glad I paid my deposit at a different school. Looks like I'm moving to Miami. Good luck to everyone!! For future students I had a 3.9 pre-req and overall, little volunteer experience, no clinical experience, and excellent LOR

Rejected as well. It was the only school I applied to. Now I think we are going to focus on getting pregnant. I’m 34. My husband encouraged me that I can try to go back to school but fertility has limit. I am a 5 years old LVN and wanted to advance my career. Ugh life doesn’t go smooth right??! But I want to be able to create a value out of this experience. Congratulations everyone and wish you al the best of luck!

Honestly the babies are they way to go! I am sure in the future you can always do an LVN-RN program. Kids are way more rewarding (and challenging) than any career could ever be.

I also got rejected?

I applied to UCLA and USF this time around.

 

Going to retake a pre-req and hope I get in next year or else where.

Congrats to everyone who got in- and all that didn't, it’s okay. What is meant to be WILL BE & what isn’t meant to be isn’t. 
The universe/ god doesn’t take away what is already yours ✨

The night before admissions came out I had a weird dream saying I would get rejected from UCLA but did get into JHU. To stay in CA at UCLA was my top choice, but we will see where the road takes me. 

I will say I aM pretty bummed I didn’t get in and shocked.

My stats were basically as followed.

I had a 3.6 undergrad GPA and a 3.9 Pre req GPA. I volunteered in a hospital, served at the food bank, and worked in the community. I also worked as a CNA in covid unit for the last year. I based my essay, on the struggles I’ve endured being a women of color born to two immigrant parents and how I plan to fix the health care gaps that minorities face. 
 

 

I will say working during covid I’ve learned a lot, and have actually started studying for the mcat, so maybe the reason I didn’t get in was because I aM suppose to follow the far off dream of becoming a physician.

I believe that this rejection is for the best for all of us. I hope you all have a good weekend & remember that we create our paths & what lies ahead is far better than what we leave behind! Goodluck everyone ?

I love this! I just started the nursing program at JHU 3 weeks ago but got rejected from UCLA today. Makes no sense but God really does work in mysterious ways. I’m happy at this school and am excited to be living in the East Coast. Are you going to be attending JHU?

Same. Got rejected from UCLA today and will attend JHU in Fall 2021.

What is meant for us will be and I am waaay better about this than I was yesterday. God has a good plan for me can and I can accept if it looks different than I expected.

3.9 prerep GPA

Military background

Volunteered as a UCLA COPE Healthcare Scholar at MLKJH

Essays were solid 

2 Masters 3.15  and 3.85 

But my undergrad GPA was not as awesome.

UCI sent invitations already? Congrats, you're going to crush it!
