UCLA MECN 2017

Published

Hey, I am currently getting ready to apply to the UCLA MECN program. I went to UCLA yesterday to meet with the nursing advisor and since I have 2 C's, one in psych and one in Stats, she advised me to repeat one of them because I can't have more than one C on my transcripts. I plan on taking Micro this fall. In terms of work experience, I work with an agency facilitating care for end of life patients. I really want to get into the UCLA program but I will also be applying to CSULA, CSUN, CSUCI, CSUSM and USF, Western and

Anyway, I just wanted to create a thread for those applying same time as I so we can discuss. Fyi I will be attending the info session on July 26!

I really want to specialize though so I'm kind of bummed that the MECN doesn't offer a specialty, I would have to do a post-masters program.

How many classes can you have in progress when applying?

If a class is repeated, do they average the two or disregard the lower grade totally?

How much is the program in total?

Do MECN graduates make more in terms of salary than BSNs?

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

Hello everyone! I am joining you all on the wait to hear back from UCLA! I hope we hear back soon and goodluck to all!

Hopefully, more applicants will join this thread while me wait.

New people who have joined the thread in the past few days - want to share your stats to pass the time?

Does anyone know if UCLA MECN does a newly admitted students day after acceptance letters are sent out? I tried looking at previous threads but I did not see any mention of them.

@cwata14 if I understand your question correctly, they will have orientation but it's not until the summer I think.

Did you know that you can check your application status online?

when I checked it said no decisions have been made on my application.

Go to:

Appstatus.grad.ucla.edu

I check that link every now and then. Same response

yea I have checked, I'm pretty sure that we get an automatic email from the grad division once a letter has been loaded there, telling us to check our status. In previous years most of the students have gotten an email from Rhonda before the portal is updated

For the new people who joined this forum, want to share your stats?

I must admit it feels awkward, but I'll dive in...

I have a bachelors from Juilliard, a masters from Rice Univ.and another from NYU. Nursing is a huge career change for me. I volunteer at cedars-Sinai, I'm a CNA, and I recently returned from a medical mission to Cambodia where I taught bls and CPR.

My pre req gpa is 4.0

undergrad 3.5

there are so many qualified candidates...

I wish the best to everyone!!!

when exactly are we supposed to hear from them. I applied to USD too, so i wish to hear from both within the same time frame to enable me make my decision.

All the school has said is mid-march. Last year they said that but it was this week in February. If you need a less vague time frame maybe MC or RF at the school would give you a better idea, if you're willing to contact them?

when are you supposed to hear from USD?
