Hello Everyone! Anyone applying for the MEPN Program at UC Irvine this year? Keep us updated if you receive any new information from the school! :)
Also, simplicity of letter of recs probably make a huge difference too I’d assume. I personally only requested LOR’s from people who have actually known me for a few years (1-3 years), that way it would be much more reliable & credible since they’d know my work ethic/personality & character very well.
Also, thank’s @Manarae and @Alexam, your posts were very helpful!!!? ?????? If anyone plans on taking the interview early, could you PLEASE let us know how it goes?! I have class + work, soo I probably won’t be taking my interview until Saturday or Sunday haha

I think you can get away with having a low overall GPA because a lot of people change their majors so the classes from their old declared major could have had a big impact on their GPA. But I think the pre-req GPA should be in the 3.0 range to be on the safe side.
I heard Western is very focused on the applicant as a whole so grades aren't too much of a factor as long as requirements are met. I had no idea they had a MEPN so you should take a look into that.
My prereqs gpa was around a 3.0. I changed my major from political science to psychology to pre-med then to health science.
Thanks! I’ll look into that.
@dirtyrice @Nursingstephh I am right there with you, so far I have not received any good news. I did not get an interview invite, but good luck to everyone who received one.
I hope to one day be accepted somewhere.
No invite here ?
Prereq GPA: 3.93
Bachelor's GPA: 3.76
Experience: developing multiple programs to fight poverty in the local county and implementing them through a non profit. Working as a veterinary nurse.
I thought my essays were strong. I want to combine the two careers and become a nurse for people. I'm devastated at not getting any email from them today.
What are the stats of people who got interviews?

Don't be discouraged and I'm sure an opportunity will come for you sometime soon. I'd say spend this next year really focusing on gaining positive experiences that can strengthen you as a candidate. For my undergraduate degree I had a 3.76 GPA and for my prerequisites, I had a 4.0 GPA. (however GPA isn't such a huge factor as much as experience is)
In terms of experiences, I have been volunteering in hospitals since I finished high school, so about 5 years. UCI Medical Center being one of them. I also was in the COPE Health Scholar program, where I was able to get hands on patient experience (I highly recommend this program for anyone considering the nursing or the medical field). Aside from volunteering, I worked full-time in areas of public health that targeted undeserved populations and focused on health education. I spent a good month or so writing my personal statement and really focused on writing about how my experiences pushed me to want to make improvements for the nursing field. As for my letters of recommendation, I chose people who had known my work ethic pretty well and I felt knew me on a personal level.

Absolutely! I felt like the strongest parts of my application were my experiences. Though these programs are intended as career-changers, I still wrote about how much I love my current job and how I would apply those experiences to a nursing career. I was also very upfront about my goals. Though they don't perfectly align with UCI's program, I made sure to make a strong case as to how UCI would still be a good fit for me. I ended up declining my interview, but I wish everyone the best of luck, wherever you end up!
Hey guys! would anyone mind sharing their interview experience if they've completed it already?? Do we even get to greet ourselves and say hi, or does it jump straight into the 4 question interview? Lastly, did they use common questions or were you a bit shocked with the questions? thank you in advance and I wish everyone the best of luck!! ?
@Nursing_1011 I'm right there with you! If anybody wants to share their experience I would really appreciate it! I have never used Spark Hire, and Im wondering if I click on the link will it give me a chance to familiarize myself with the app or will it go straight to my interview? I am currently out of the country and I don't want to run into technical difficulties Thanks guys!!
Hello everyone ?
I was reading this thread and thought id join in. I received an invite for an interview and am planning to do it Sunday morning. Has anyone done their interview yet? I downloaded the app and tried to read up on it to become acquainted with how it works and I definitely recommend (if you haven't already) heading to the website to get some tips on how the video interviewing process works. Good-luck to everyone with their interviews and let's hope for the best! ?
Hi guyssss, how does everyone think they did?! I just completed my interview & I personally felt like I did pretty well on the first two questions- however, on the third & fourth question I feel like I could have done much better! Lol I just feel like I kept on getting more nervous as time went by....maybe that’s just me ??♀️? p.s for those who are still waiting to take it- my questions were all fairly common questions. Nothing too crazy at all. Good luck guys!!! ?
