Hello!
The application window starts January 1st, which is a couple weeks away from now. I am excited to apply though and see what happens. Who else is planning to apply here?
I am planning on applying to both the accelerated and traditional pathways.
I'm in the basic program now. The uniforms are about $100 per set. I have two because we have clinical days back to back on Thursday and Friday. For the first semester books, there were a couple options. One was for traditional book set, e books or both. I believe buying them new ran between $700 and $1,000 depending on which you opted for. But them used if you can from someone already in the program. Some of the books you will use throughout the program, so those you can still buy used from someone graduating. There's a special mandatory package of ATI books for NCLEX that cost around $400. The second semester, i bought two of my books from someone in the Accel program and one online verion. The one for the 4th class, i had already from the initial package. You should also plan on buying a good, comfortable pair of nursing shoes, i have dansko's. They are expensive but you are on your feet alot and it's worth it if you can. They run around $120. The lab supplies bag you will need to buy and it's for your first semester Essentials lab. There's a lab coat that you can buy, but don't bother until spring semester. You actually don't need it at all but it's nice to have when you go to pick up your patient information on Wednesday evening at the hospitals.
Good luck to everyone. I hope to see you all at orientation in August. It's hard to wait for those emails but it's so much fun when they come. Last year, we had to interview and didn't find out until 4/19. Hopefully you all will know much before that. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hey everyone. I've been keeping up with this thread for a while, but I just decided I would make an account so I could share some information I received. I am an applicant for the accelerated program and I got a call from UCF Nursing today and the woman told me they were actively working on making their decisions today, so we should find out soon! (yay!) I only got a call because they didn't have my fall 2013 final grades, and they thought they emailed me about it a month ago, but it turns out that they got my email address wrong, so I literally had to send them a screenshot of my grades today because they were trying to get everything wrapped up. Weird, I know. But whatever works I guess! Shouldn't be too much longer!!
Yes I remember reading in an attachment from CoN that the program total was approx $17k. Whew! 68mona, thank you for all the tips! Briannalewis, you had asked about orientation before. I applied to both programs but when I applied to UCF in general, I chose summer entry (being hopeful for acceptance into the Accelerated!). So, I signed up for a relatively early orientation and am actually registered for next Friday, the 21st. Does anyone else have their orientation on this date? I'd love to get to meet some of you before the program begins!

Thank you for this update! I know to expect results within the next couple of weeks, but the wait is killing me! It gives me hope that we'll hear back soon!

I think the bag of supplies like needles and gauze and what not is $500 alone. Not to mention uniforms and books. So I'd expect it to be a substantial investment in the beginning.
