UCF Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN

Published

Is anyone else applying to the Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN cohort at the University of Central Florida? It seems like it is taking forever for the actual application to open up (January 1).

Hoping to see some other folks just as excited as I am!!

Hi Lanntis,

"Depending on the program to which you have been admitted, this may include information for completing a drug screen, Gordon Rule requirements, general education requirements, foreign language, and/or prerequisite coursework prior to starting the program."

Do you know how long this whole process takes? Thanks.

Hi Fiona,

You will have a certain amount of time to complete all the requirements for the college of nursing (your security clearance, and shots and all that stuff) with the package you'll buy from Castle Branch now and start working on. That process will start as soon as you RSVP and then the CON will send you a follow up email probably next week with a list of things to start taking care of.

The thing you quoted me looks more from the general UCF guidelines for making sure everything is set for you to be a UCF student. As you have a previous degree, I would imagine you have all of those things completed already from your first degree.. foreign language requirements, all the pre req work, fulfilled golden rule etc. etc. Any UCF related thing not part of the college of nursing will need to be completed prior to you starting Nursing School in May :) (But you shouldn't have anything to do except the Nursing school requirements with Castle Branch).

That process you should be done with in a week or two if you just go get your fingerprints done, gather up all your immunization documentation, health insurance card and so forth.

Hope that helps and congratulations!

Thanks Lanntis. I do see that from Nursing College website Immunization & Document Tracker | UCF College of Nursing that we are required to get all these medical documents done: MMR, Chicken Pox, Hepatitis B, TB Skin Test, Tetorifice, Diphtheria & Pertussis (Tdap), CPR Certification, influenza and so on... Is it true that we have to get all these done which seems a lot...? I feel like it will take a long time for me to get all these since some of the documents already missing.... sigh....

You do have to get them all done, but just organize it and get it done. it's not that bad. When you get your next email and sign up for castle branch it will be all organized for you to upload each of the requirements. It's not a big deal. UCF sets up dates for you to do your CPR certification, flu shots can be gotten at any pharmacy, at the UCF health center etc. Your primary doctor can give you any required vaccines you don't have yet. Your high school and/or your elementary schools will usually still have your record of immunizations you got at birth and throughout your childhood years. Costs a dollar to have it sent to you. Don't worry! It all comes together :) For now, go celebrate.. you made it!

Omg!!! That's amazing stats...

Oops! Thank you, but I lied! I was ~celebrating~ when I wrote that and clearly had a bit of a big head. My actual stats were a 3.7* undergrad GPA and 4.0 science and non-science pre-req GPA! I did score a 91 on the TEAS exam. Sorry about that, hope this helps!

How many people have accepted the offer? The FB group doesn't have many members so I was just curious.

Give it time.. they will come. Not everyone uses FB, though. Some of my classmates turn theirs off for the entirety of nursing school. lol. I can't be disconnected like that though.

I did accept the offer, however, I am still unable to join the group (even with my UCF email). Anyone else having that problem?

Goldenmoose, have you been able to join Facebook's UCF community? It will require you to log into your UCF email to confirm.

Thanks for the tip! I think I may have finally figured it out. Also, anyone else having problems getting their background and fingerprints done. I submit the verification form to CastleBranch as soon as I got the email. My account still say "Pending Review." Is this happening to anyone else??
