UCF SUMMER 2015 Accelerated Nursing Program

Published

Hey guys!

I just applied for the summer 2015 accelerated nursing program at UCF.

I wanted to create this thread so people can see the application pool stats and just have somewhere to talk and vent during the "waiting game."

As for me...I'm a little on the low side sadly...

TEAS- 87.3%

Overall GPA: 3.467

Pre-req GPA: 3.65

Good luck!

I think you mean the second degree academic plan form for financial aid. Jessica Simmons sent it to us in an email titled "Second Degree BSN-Financing Your Degree" about Financial Aid. It's in the last bullet point under "Do you need to take out a loan?" You can also find it on the UCF financial aid website in the forms link. :)

Is anyone else looking for an independent healthcare plan? I'm quitting my full time job, so I won't have insurance anymore. All the plans I have looked at are $300-400 a month premiums. Looking for something a little cheaper with a low deductible.

I'm also losing my insurance due to leaving my full time job. I found coverage through healthcare.gov that is more than reasonable. I filled out the application for coverage effective the date I am losing my coverage and I listed my suspected income for 2015 (not my 2014 income) and I found a few really cheap plans under $50, but I choose one for $86 a month with no deductible. Not sure if you've looked at healthcare.gov, but it worked for me. Also, Dr. Simmons mentioned that there could be insurance through UCF, I haven't been able to find it, but maybe someone has more info about it.

Thank you so much. That is around the amount I am looking for. I'll fill out my application for it today.

Hello everyone!

I'm sure by now some of you are well underway in the program. I was hoping that perhaps some of you in the accelerated program could provide some insight on how the program has been so far. Reading through this thread, I have a general idea of how the application process and waiting period is. If I only received an 80.6 on the TEAS, would anyone strongly suggest that I retake it? Did the process of reviewing courses before the start of the program, such as A&P, benefit anyone greatly? Is anyone currently maintaining employment throughout the program? If so, are you working part-time, full-time, or other arrangement? Also, do you feel that working while in the program is impacting you negatively? These are only a couple of topics that I am interested in hearing about, but I am all ears for anyone with any type of insight or feedback.

Thank you everyone and good luck throughout the remainder of the program!

I'm in the program and got a 89.3 on TEAS and my overall GPA was a 3.2 with prereq GPA at 3.7. Retaking the TEAS really depends on your GPA. The minimum they accept is 79 on the TEAS, most people I've talked to in the program with me received at least an 83 on the TEAS, but if the rest of your stats are stellar you might be okay (but depends on how much of a chance your willing to take with an okay score).

I just finished A&P the semester before the program started, so I didn't review and I don't think many people did. Most of the lectures and books review the important concepts.

I don't know many people who work...It's a BUSY program. I know maybe 5 to 10 people out of 68 people in the program that work. I work seasonally at Disney, but I only worked maybe 3 times throughout the semester. I know two who work part-time as EMT/Patient Techs at the hospital. I plan on working as a patient care tech starting in the fall or spring semester (I want to wait to see the course load for the semester before I decide). It is possible to work, but it depends on how disciplined you are, I'm not the most disciplined person and the times I worked definitely interfered with my studying.

It's a great program and I am loving every minute of it, but you definitely get out what you put in. Pay attention to what the professors are saying and review the books as needed (there is no way to do the reading, but I tried to do as much as I could). Also, everyone is very helpful, we have several facebook groups and all the cohorts really help each other out. If you have any questions, I make sure to check back here as much as possible...

Hi future nurses. Congrats on getting into UCF's accelerated BSN program! I am going to apply to the 2016 program. Did many of you work in the healthcare field such as a CNA prior to applying and/or have volunteer hours? That is one area I am lacking as I received my Bachlors from UCF in Event Management. If any of you can share share your volunteer experiences that would be great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I know this is an old post, but hopefully I can get a reply from someone! I just applied for this year's Accelerated Program at UCF and was hoping I could get an opinion from current/past students. Pros and cons would be great honestly haha because I've been getting a wide range of opinions from all the programs I applied to, and I think the opinion of current/past students are best. Any comments would be great!

Hello!

I applied to the summer 2016 accelerated programs at UCF and UNF. Did any of you get accepted to both of these programs? How did you decide which one to go to?

So jealous. I moved from FL because of the military. I loved ucf

Hi Guys! I have just applied for the UCF traditional BSN program for the fall of 2016. I sent my application in on Feb. 9th. I am officially "eligible" but sooo nervous! This has been my dream for the longest time. My stats are:

3.75 overall gpa

4.0 science gpa

84.7 on my TEAS

not really sure how to calculate my "other gpa" but I came from Valencia earning my AA and their grading system does not include + or -

i took AP psychology in high school so I have the credit for that, I got a B in developmental psychology, a B in nutrition and an A in statistics. Any insight you guys have for me would be greatly appreciated !!
