Does anybody know anything about exactly how compettive UCF's bsn program is to get into??
I am currently at a community college and i have been accepted into the RN program there and was planning to complete my BSN with ucf...But i was looking online at the catalog, and im only 3 classes shy of being able to apply to go directly into the BSN program ...anybody know anything about it? average GPA maybe?
Hi there, I am not at the Daytona campus but I just completed my first semester at the Cocoa campus. I also had a 4.0 when I applied but I had an 85 on the TEAS test. You might want to retake the TEAS because I found out that many of my fellow classmates had a 4.0 GPA as well. So the TEAS test is also very important.
Hope this helps! :)
I think you should practice the reading portion of the test. you have till July 1st to apply right? So you could take the test next month some time. ATI has some good prep books you can order from their website. Maybe that will help you prepare for how they word the reading portion of the test. Good luck!!
Hi Fldobielover,
I just finished junior year in the UCF College of Nursing. I know many who had an 81 on the TEAS and made it in. What you really want to look at is your core science class gpa ( Anatomy/Phys, Micro, Chem.....). They look for a 3.5-4.0 in those classes especially. However, most people that I know in the program got straight A's in those classes so I'm not sure how many they let in with B's. It depends on who you are up against in the selection process.
I wish you luck, and hope to see you at the CON!

Honestly, you should make an appointment with Alton Austin. He's the adviser in charge of nursing admissions. He can tell you at a glance what your composite score is (it's how they rate everyone, the top [n] people get in.). If you ask, he can also tell you what the composite range was for the previous year, so you have a better feel for where you stand. They don't care about the portion(s) of the TEAS that you messed up, the 81 is the only thing they care about.
Make an appointment, bring your transcripts, and a copy of your TEAS summary. He'll point you in the right direction.

Swarner,
If you have any words of wisdom you'd like to share with someone who's about to enter the Basic track in August, I'm all ears! :)
Elisacakes,
I know you all already know that this is going to be a challenge and I am sure you are preparing yourselves for that. If I could give you a couple things to help you along it would be, do the readings that they will email you about right before classes start and subsequently before all lectures (you always need to be ahead of the game), review your notes every night (not necessarily for memorization, but familiarization) and read further about anything you need clarification on, set aside 2-3 hours per night for study, reading, and classwork (even on weekends), and know that you can do this!

The basic BSN program at UCF takes 18 months to complete.
