  1. In the program I am in (BSN) we practice in the lab during our Adult 2 rotations time period (second round of clinicals on Med surge) and then we can actually do them during our practicum (last semester).
  2. I think you should practice the reading portion of the test. you have till July 1st to apply right? So you could take the test next month some time. ATI has some good prep books you can order from their website. Maybe that will help you prepare for how they word the reading portion of the test. Good luck!!
  3. Hi there, I am not at the Daytona campus but I just completed my first semester at the Cocoa campus. I also had a 4.0 when I applied but I had an 85 on the TEAS test. You might want to retake the TEAS because I found out that many of my fellow classmates had a 4.0 GPA as well. So the TEAS test is also very important. Hope this helps! :)
  4. The basic BSN program at UCF takes 18 months to complete.
  5. Took two finals last week - two more tomorrow - been studying like a mad woman for several days now. Can't wait to get past tmrw and take a break!!
  6. Hi, Just wanted to add my encouragement! I am the "senior citizen" in my class. I am 49 years old. I started my journey going back to school when I was 46! I have done very well. At the associate degree level I was a 4.0 but now that I am a jr. at the University level, things are a bit tougher for me. I am still do well, but I believe that 4.0 will be broken soon! LOL Anyway - the point is that is not too late for your Mom. She is 10 years younger than I am - If I can do it, she can too!!! :-)
  7. The problem is they don't give you enough supplies to practice enough. I ran out of the ampules (sp) and not can't practice that skill! soooo frustrating!
  8. Don't let your age stop you. I went back to school at the ripe ol age of 46 and at first, I was scared to death. But after a few scary weeks of "blowing the cobwebs off of my brain", I have done very well. In fact I just graduated with honors from our local communtity college and was accepted to the University to continue on and get my BSN! You can and should do it! It sounds to me like you truly have the heart for Nursing!
  9. Hello, It sounds like you might have a decent chance - you have a nice, solid overall GPA so you should definitely apply. Good luck!!
  10. I agree - thanks for the positive post!! Happy Holidays!!:)
  11. Sallys beauty supply sells blotting papers for pretty cheap and they work great. Just pat your face with them and they soak the oil right up. I have very oily skin and they work great for me... You can keep them in your pocket. I use them every couple hours and soak up the excess oil nicely. Hope that helps.
  12. Hello, I live in Palm Bay too. I think Keiser is a very expensive way to go. I went to BCC for all of my prereqs and got accepted to UCF College of Nursing because I want to get my BSN. You can get a much better deal financially at BCC and it is a great idea to go for your BSN through UCF. (you can transfer from BCC to UCF). The hospital system that I work for is encouraging all of their RN's to go for their BSNs. Many positions require a BSN right now as well. I think you are better off going with a state funded school like BCC and UCF. Private schools like Keiser charge a lot more money and sometimes their credits don't transfer to University level schools. So if you want top further your education that is something to consider. Hope this helps!
  13. I scored an 81 on the TEAS Test and I was accepted to UCF College of Nursing. Good luck!!!
  14. My program is 5 semesters too and we will be done the first week of August (2012). We go straight through the summers. I would like to work in Labor and delivery. I am very exicted but also very nervous too. Here we go!!!
  15. I have been told the same thing! Good thing it is just 5 semesters! With lots of hard work and determination, we will make it through to the other side!! Good luck to you!!! I wish you all the best!
