Hi! I just wanted to start a thread for everyone that is applying for UCF's BSN program which will begin this Fall, 2012. I think this would be a great place for everyone to share their concerns, nerves about waiting, or questions. :)
So, how is everyone? Which campus are you applying to?
Once you apply to the program, you'll see that they only look at very few things. You can even attend an information session, and they'll tell you that they look at your TEAS score, overall GPA, and pre-req GPA. Best of luck!
Ok thats good to know .there is an information session tuesday coming at UCF Daytona Campus i'll be sure not to miss it. I think the campus locations has less competition than the main UCF campus, so hopefully i will get all my questions answered there. I calculated my prereq GPA and its the same as my overall...oh well I trying the State Colleges also, I'll get in one of them.
I got in to the fall program - my cummulative was 3.46, but my prereqs were 4.0 and Teas was 90. Hope this helps- it was helpful for me to see what some of the scores were when I was applying. Good luck
seems like the factors vary as far as what holds more weight maybe its the prereq GPA. Only thing I can do is retake the TEAS i did not study for it and got 84 , i'm pretty sure i could bring it up to the 90's before i apply. I got As and Bs in everything else so i cant retake any courses.
I too got into the basic program for Fall 2012. I'm pretty sure I just barely made the cut off for acceptance.
I had a 3.28 overall GPA, 83 on the TEAs, and a 3.90 prereq GPA (Got 1 B for a stupid A&PII lab)
I was 100% prepared to drive my sorry ass to Valencia West every day for the concurrent program there but by some miracle I got into the ucf basic program.
I just received my acceptance packet YESTERDAY (Friday 5/18), it took forever and I was pretty certain at one point that I wasn't really accepted.
Some of the information in the acceptance packet is a little vague and I'm hesitant to email Judy with a million questions.
1. Do we need to purchase both packages on CertifiedBackground (the UA74 and UA74dt)? It doesn't specifically say. I received information for both, and I know we need a drug test and and the UA74 doesn't include it (I think).
2. On the immunizations form it says flu shot, so do we need a flu shot if we haven't already had one? Because, the 2012-2013 season flu shots aren't readily available right now so whats the point in getting a flu shot for the 2011-2012 season (the strains are different)
Thanks!
I am applying to UCF for standard BSN Jan 2013. I have an 81 on the TEAS (although my math and reading were in the 90s) and a 3.66 GPA. My pre-req GPA is a 4.0. Do you think I have a good chance? Should I retake the TEAS?Thanks for any help you can offer, I am so stressed about this!
I, too, will apply for the January '13 and I did a lot of research about this :) Considering your numbers, I would say you have a good chance, but I also think that it depends on the number of students they accept for January, and I have no idea what that might be. I went one time to a Nursing information session in Orlando and the advisor said that average GPA and other numbers counting for admission are usually a little bit higher than those of students they admit for the Orlando campus. That may be true if fewer slots are open for the January 2013 generic BSN :thankya:, but it seems to me that applicants for Orlando campus already have very high scores. If I were you, though, I would retake the TEAS and try to get in the 90s; I am certain that your chances of getting into the program will be considerably improved.
Have you taken the TEAS test in 2012? I've selected an ADN program as recipient for my second attempt and I cannot see the mean for the UCF BSN program. The support from atitesting site informed me that the national mean for BSN-type programs is 70.5%, but I couldn't find out the one for UCF. Do you know what that might be? Thanks.
P.S. Appi-us is right. Maybe we should begin a new thread for the UCF January 2013 admission.
Good luck!
I think it would be best if you guys started a new thread! Not that we don't want to help you configure your chances for applications or relax your nerves about the process, but we all still have a lot to do beginning the program, so I think we would all agree it's best to focus on that. I wish you guys the best of luck though that are going to apply next year. Once you make a new thread, definitely post the name of it and under what category it's under, so people that read here can find it easily!
VanillaBean- 1) Yes, they're two seperate packets that you have to purchase, one for each code. and 2) I'm not sure, maybe just talk to your physician about it when you get your physical done, I'm sure they'll know exactly what to do!
HI fellow classmates! I too got into the Fall '12 Basic Program!!I emailed Judy today about the acceptance packet - did everyone else already get theirs or some people have and others haven't??
Looking forward to meeting you all - I've also tried to add myself to the fb group!! yay!
Judy gives me a headache. She hasn't responded to any of my emails, so good luck getting any answers. :)
Last Friday she sent out an email that said all the packets would be mailed that day. I think she sent them out in alphabetical order. My last name starts with S and I received mine on Friday.
Talked to Judy this morning, and got a not so reassuring message. Although not allowed to discuss details of the waitlist, she says only 5-6 people so far have been taken from it. Being that I'm in the middle of the waitlist, that makes me super nervous. I know they continue to take people up until a week prior to the start date, but still. She says the waitlist is moving very slow this year. Anyone else in my boat?
