UCF 2013 Fall-Orlando generic BSN applicants?

I am a transfer student applying to UCF Fall 2013 and was accepted into UCF. They have been badgering me to do orientation but I don't live in Orlando. Do you know if orientation has to be completed to get an interview? Thanks!

From reading on last years thread, I don't think you need to have orientation done to get an interview. Might want to clarify with CON or other applicants on here.

Hi Everyone,

I applied to UCF's Basic BSN program in January 2013 and I never got any info about a backround check until last week, the email came from Judy Rechsteiner at UCF College of Nursing requesting me to send in a backround check (it cost me $90.00). I read in another email that if I was "provisionally accepted" I would be required to submit a backround check, but I never got an official letter stating that I have been provisionally accepted. Is anyone else in the same boat? I don't know whether to be excited or not haha

You were supposed to submit certifiedbackground stuff when you first sent in your application. There will be another part of background check when you are offered a spot and I believe it will cost $60. This one includes drug check.

It looks like the email you received was for you to submit the first background check that will allow you to be considered for an interview.

After the interview you will find out either you are provisionally accepted or waitlisted

I'm surprised you didn't receive anything when you requested an application to submit your background check. I remember my email had 2 attachments that contained step by step instructions on how to apply to a program and proceed with the background check on certifiedprofile.com

I would call CON and try to clarify it.

I know what you're talking about. On the CON website as well as another document I read, maybe the handbook, it said a background check was not required until after you were accepted. However, in the email they sent with instructions it asked for the BC to be done before the application is submitted. My guess its they changed the policy but did not update their website.

Yes, the website was their old policy. Last year we didn't have to complete the background check until after we were temp accepted. Their system this year for acceptance is much more thorough I think and will definitely be worth it in the end :)

Thank you all for the clarification! Yea I never got the first request for the backround check so I got a denial letter for not meeting the minimum requirements from the CON. So I called and they said it was because I never submitted a backround check. So I just counted my losses and moved on, applied for another program... then I get an email saying they would like to reconcider me for the Basic BSN at UCF and to submit a backround check with the info attached to do so. Thats where the confusion came in. I never got the first backround check email, and I guess I was lucky enough for a second chance. Now I'm on the same page with everyone else. Just the waiting game. My stats are GPA 3.68 TEAS 79% recalcualted GPA 3.9. Hope its good enough...
