UCF BSN Spring 2014 Hopefuls / Applicants Daytona Cocoa Campus

Published

Starting a thread for the applicants to the University of Central Florida Daytona and Cocoa Campus, with the starting semester of Spring 2014. Anyone else out there?

@AlaskaGirl~ I do not believe we have to worry about signing up for orientation until after we find out about acceptance into nursing or not. Also, congrats on being able to submit your application and a great TEAS score!!

Thanks for your answer nvictoria. Hope to see you at the interviews!

Does anyone know how many people apply to the Daytona/Cocoa campuses?

BVS93 I heard around 150 people apply to each...at the Orlando campus it's like 500!

Hello guys and Welcome to allnurses. Generally about 300 people apply to the regional campuses. About 120-150 will be chosen for interviews and roughly 60-80 will be accepted to both the Cocoa and Daytona Campus. My class had about 36 people just to give an idea. They also waitlisted and quite a few got accepted late because other people dropped out or were accepted to another college. So don't be discouraged it you are waitlisted.

You all have great scores. It really just depends on the batch of people applying so each year the average changes. We like to remain anonymous within the all nurses forums so for school specific information I suggest calling the main campus to speak to a nursing advisor. Not gonna give names but Mr A. gives great info. If you have not already done so, attend one of the Nursing Information sessions at UCF or at the regional campus. It will clear up a lot of questions.

Start working on getting your immunization or titers records organized for: Tdap, MMR, varicella (or titer), you MUST get this years FLU vaccine, Hep B is required. Hep A optional but i got the A/B combination and Meningitis was also optional but I got it anyways. You need to start gathering documented proofs of all of these when you get your nursing packets. So starting now will give you a head start because there will be a million things to do once that acceptance letter comes. Good luck to you all.

If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats prior to entering the program?

- Thanks

I'm just an average joe. GPA 3.57 TEAS 84% . Mind you , I stress this, you cannot use a persons score from last year as the benchmark. It's all based on the current years applicants. The interview is also heavily considered, not just your stats. We were also the first group to be interviewed. Search this website for UCF Daytona Cocoa 2013 to see what people said last year. Its a huge thread of information. Oh and don't ask me about interview questions, its against policy to discuss it. All I can say is if you know why you want to be a nurse and just be yourself you will do fine.

I have my fingers crossed.... I am sweating bullets all this waiting is killing me!!

Hey man-nurse2b, thanks for the information. Y'all's thread from last year has been a great read throughout my application/waiting period. I have my immunizations already submitted to UCF general admissions and thought I was done with all that. I haven't heard anything about needing the FLU vaccine; that makes me a little nervous because I'm allergic to the FLU vaccine :nailbiting:

Should not be worried. Call CON and find out your options for flu vaccine allergy. Most likely they will need documented proof from an MD of your allergy. Don't wait until last minute to do this.

I feel your pain...lol time table for my group interview email were send out around mid-october...2 week later actual interview and Friday of that same week acceptance email. final acceptance email at the beginning of November. They did our all done via email. They always send the emails for interviews and acceptance out late Friday...so they wont get flooded with calls. I guess a computer does it because I got my interview email around 10pm so don't worry if you are not in the first batch of emails at 3 pm either.

Hi everybody! I'm a fellow applicant. If I make it to the interview portion of the application phase, I look forward to meeting you! Good luck to everybody!
