Starting a thread for the applicants to the University of Central Florida Daytona and Cocoa Campus, with the starting semester of Spring 2014. Anyone else out there?
I already put in my application! Nervous about the interview though.Knight Nurse...any tips on interviews? And yes I would be interested in seeing that thread too! Thank you in advance for the advice given to us applicants...
Do you also think we should review certain material before going into the program? Like some AP, Chem, ect?
Lastly..do you think it is possible to work 1st semester? I plan on working 1 8 hr shift a week if I get in...doable while maintaining good grades?
Don't over think the questions they ask you. They're really friendly and in my interview they weren't intimidating at all. I think the only time you may need to review material is 2nd semester when you take patho because it relies heavily on A&P. It is definitely possible to work first semester. There are quite a few people in our program that work and their grades are just fine.
It is definitely possible to work and do well in the program. I have been working between 22-30hrs a week since I started and my grades haven't suffered. It really depends on you though and how much time you need to study and do homework. You don't really need to get ahead for first semester but as knights nurse said A&P becomes very important in patho. It wouldn't hurt to get familiar with APA format either.
I tried to find the same thread I used when looking at questions and I think this is the one:

If you just type nursing school interview in the search there is a ridiculous amount of threads on the subject. Hope this helps.
Hello everyone, I'm also currently in the Cocoa nursing program and will help answer any questions. Good luck to everyone and hope to see you at the interviews.P.S. I'm pretty curious who knights nurse is if you want to shoot me a pm that's be awesome.
Hello! I see you wrote you are currently in the program. I just got accepted for Fall 2013 at the Orlando campus for the basic program. Any advice on work ? I know some people say it is hard to balance a job while in the program. But i need to work I am a server, and i plan on working Saturday nights & Sunday mornings. Any advice for the first semester and my work schedule ? :)
Also, dont worry about interviews guys. i prepared for interviews a week before i had mine. all i did was google common interview questions, write them on flash cards, and had my boyfriend ask me them. one thing, make sure to keep your answers pretty short and to the point. i had noticed that some of the interviewers getting annoyed when some people would ramble on. the questions are very basic. and there is no order in which you answer them when you are in the group. also, we finished our interview rather quickly and they gave us the opportunity to ask THEM questions. i took advantage of that, so they knew i was very interested. they want people who stick out :)
