UCF Basic BSN Applicants Spring 2015 Cocoa/ Daytona Campus

Published

Hello there!

I will be applying to UCF's Basic BSN program that starts in the spring of 2015 at the Cocoa and Daytona campuses. The application window is from July 15th to August 16th. Anyone else planning to apply? :)

Me too!!! It's all I think about.

So we'll hear back either this week or definitely by the end of next week. I am getting really really nervous waiting. What do you guys think the chances are of getting a decision sometime this week? I was thinking about calling and asking if they had any information about it tomorrow morning, I'm not sure if that would be annoying to them though.

I'm sure they're used to it by now. I know people call every year. My personal guess is we won't hear this week. If the past few years are any indication, we'll be lucky if we hear back by October 10th.

I just called and asked if they had any information about specifically when there would be a decision and she said the APG committee still has to meet on the 7th and they're hoping to have emails sent out on Friday the 10th. So it sounds like it might not even be until after the 10th. I was hoping that it wouldn't take them as long to decide this year since they didn't have to go through the whole interview process, but I guess I was wrong!

Thank you for calling!! Does anyone else wonder why this process takes so long? If they only go by our GPA, pre-req GPA, and TEAs score, it seems like a computer program could determine which stats were the best.

Thanks for calling. I guess now we can just relax then, not anticipating an email until at least the end of next week.

Can someone share what they used to study the TEAS and also give some info on the test itself? Was it close to the study guide? Harder? How was the math part? What parts do you have to study? Sorry for all the questions :/ and thanks for those that can help out :)

I go to BCC and we have to take a HESI test....I may be moving to cocoa area so I'm wondering if the HESI could pass for the TEAS.

I used the ATI study guide as well as the Mcgraw- Hill study guide, the test isn't that hard if you have a good understanding of science. I made an 89 on the TEAS, I found the grammar and language usage parts the most difficult and the math and science were the easiest, but that's me. And yes, it was close to the study guides, although the science part was slightly more difficult, and the math section is basic stuff that you would have learned already.

I suggest you start studying about 1-2 months before the test and complete all of the practice tests in the study guides. Also, I don't think the HESI will pass for the TEAS, but I'm not sure.

Can you tell me around what date the orientation was for last year? I'm going to be traveling around Christmas time (I would assume it wouldn't be then) but I just wanted to make sure I'll be around. Thanks happy.png

For Daytona our orientation was Jan 3 (so the friday before class begins). You guys will be having a meet and greet day sometime in December as well. The meet and greet wasn't mandatory, but it was certainly nice to see some faces and meet classmates before orientation and class began.

To add on to the previous info about orientation:

There is a separate UCF orientation and a Nursing Program orientation. If my memory is correct (which, who knows) ;) i think the UCF orientation was either the same day as the meet and greet, or the same day as the Nursing Program orientation. Either way they are both done at the Daytona campus.

Can you tell me about the cost of the first semester? (i.e.- books, tuition, uniforms, other stuff). Thanks

Thanks for the info! Hopefully not the same date as last year or no Christmas trip for me! As for the UCF orientation I'm a readmit student so I don't have to go through that, thanks so much for the info! Good luck with the rest of your degree!
