Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

I'm betting she made the group private and that's why we can't find it! And she doesn't know us to FB invite us. So that means she needs to change the settings on the page to make it searchable and/or paste a direct link here! Excited!

Ok. I am so embarrassed. I am almost 36 years old and I do NOT have a FB account (I know, how embarrassing!!) LOL!! I am going to go and created one now so that I can join your group!

I figured that's why it wasn't showing up

Woo Hoo!!!! What a great day this turned out to be. I'm so so so excited to start in May! My letter is already scanned and emailed, so I can't wait to get started on the to-do list!

Congrats everyone who got in, and congrats everyone on the waitlist. Just you wait, there will be some shuffling around! Everyone here is great, smart, and can do this.

so now is anyone doing UCF transfer orientation next friday or am I going to be all alone!?!?!? Hope CON is speedy in their replies too. I want to see what else we have to do before we start. All I know that I don't have booked is CPR. Am I right in thinking classes start May 13? Nursing orientation is likely the week before. Classes 8-5 m/w/f clinicals t/th? Sound like what you were told? I need to get an idea of clinical schedules. I gotta get summer camp booked for the kids!

I'm going to try for orientation next Friday :) I need to look at the time for it. I also need clinical schedules so I can get a daycare picked for my son.

It sounded from others like they don't give out clinical schedules til like the week before which is insane. I just need want to know enough to know if I can do a daycare that closes at 6 pm for the most part!

Same here...or if I need one that opens at 6am.

akwildone, so sorry I haven't given a response to your pm, been busy with studies, heck its Friday night and I was just doing some school work. I hope everything worked out ok for you. For you guys coming in Clinicals could literally change like the night before. I'm in the generic BSN that's how it is with us. Accelerated might be different....hopefully.

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay, I've been on a plane and just reached my destination.

This is a link to the FB group.

Hope it works. :)

Thanks, I sent my request.

Woo hoo! Only 46 days until we are sitting in class for the first day!!!!

Waitlisted. And I don't blame my Interview at all. Nor my prereq GPA of 3.85. I blame my TEAS and overall GPA-- I had lower numbers on those than most of you on here. But it's out of my hands now. I still have requested to join the FB group though; this will probably be my final posting on this thread meanwhile.

If I don't get the chance to call myself a selectee later, I have one message for those of you that already are:

Once you enroll, just promise me one thing... remember why you are there. It should not be about the money to you, or the prestige in having the letters "RN" after your name. You are there to make a difference. While the doctors of the world may treat the diseases, for instance, it is the NURSE who will provide the majority of the comfort that patients need. Remember that it is the NURSE who can play a part in things like setting the broken arm of the boy who falls out of a tree so he can play with his dog again. It is the NURSE who can be the caregiver for the male Senior Citizen with the shots he needs or whatnot, so he can be strong enough to renew his vows with his wife of 50 years... and so forth. Hopefully you know where I'm going with this.

The point being: it is the NURSE who has enormous potential to Make a Difference.

That Nurse will be you. I wish you good luck.
