Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.
I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.
Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.
Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.
Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)
I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.
Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.
Thanks for all of your responses.
Best of luck!!!
I did a practice drive by today so I know where to go next week. Building is the imposing white one at the intersection of Research and Technology. Lots of parking and has a Tropical Smoothie Cafe right next to it.
Being that I presently work in Research Park it's 2 minutes away, woot. For additional reference folks, Once you turn off Alafaya past the Bank of America, driving down Research Parkway I want to say it is the first light, on the left. And yes, look for the Tropical Smoothie sign outside adjacent to the grey sign that says UCF College of Nursing in capital letters.
I'm so eager for next Friday!
Hey Guys!! New to allnurses and to this feed! I've been reading the feed since I got my interview invite and figured why not say hello and introduce myself?! I'm 25, currently living in South FL and have my B.S. in psychology which I completed at UCF :)
I absolutely LOVE UCF and am feeling a WHOLE lot of emotions just thinking about next Friday! Interview time is at 10:00am so hopefully I'll be seeing some of you there! Good luck all!!!
Congrats to all of you !! Also just wanted to say good luck

Don't worry, jackievictoria713- You'll hear something soon. I'm pretty sure that they are going to wait for decision letters for the Accelerated program to go out before they are going to send invites for the basic. I applied to both, as did a lot of other people, so they really won't know who is in the running until they figure out who is going to the accelerated program. Chin up! The waiting is annoying but exciting. :)
I applied for UCFs accelerated nursing program and was very frustrated by the process. I hate that they require you to have a backgrpund check before decisions are made. I'm an out of state applicant and the process was VERY unclear. I ended up doing everything (sending transcripts, TEAS scores, fingerprints, petitioned classes, etc.) but missed the step to register for a background check, so I was declined. Needless to say I was VERY frustrated. UCF should make the steps more clear. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money...
I applied for the accelerated program and STILL haven't heard back with a decision. I've already accepted admission from another school so I'm not worried about it. But if this was my only option I would be very stressed right now. And I agree, the application process was undesirable. The background check isn't exactly cheap to get done without knowing whether you'll even be offered a seat in the program or not. Thankfully my other school uses certified profile as well so I am guessing I can use it for them, but it's frustrating nonetheless.
