Anyone else applying? :clown:

Ughhh I just want to know already.........good or bad, i just want to know something

Me too! I have to make a job decision based off whether I get into nursing or not to make sure I have a way of paying my bills which is managable but I need to let my potential employers know by Sunday evenings...so everything is based on whether or not I get in...it would be wonderful if we found out tomorrow or this weekend...6 weeks is officially Saturday but am hoping since emails need to go out, maybe they'll do it tomorrow instead of waiting til Monday..that'd be good:o) Let me know what they say when you call.

I have a couple of questions for current students of the ABSN if they read this thread:

(1) What is the total cost of attendance for the program? I'm talking tuition (FL resident), fees, uniform, books, room, board, personal expenses, etc? I would like to know how much the expense will be for the year in order to budget accordingly.

(2) Does anyone know the hospitals in the Orlando area that UCF contracts with for clinicals? Are Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer two of these sites for peds and OB respectively? Curious to know, thanks!

1) These are approximate:

tuition = about $11,000 for entire program

books = over $1000 first semester, a few hundred for other semesters at most

uniform/shoes = about $150 being frugal (2 white tops/pants, 2 navy blue pants, $20 shoes, no jackets)

rent/food = depends on your lifestyle

you will also need stethoscope, watch, up to date vaccinations, physical, health insurance, CPR class, nursing supplies

This could all cost a lot, but I didn't add it up. I'm sure I forgot a lot of stuff.

Don't forget tolls/gas for driving because you will be driving anywhere and everywhere.

2)

UCF contracts with both FL Hospital and Orlando Health so this includes basically any major hospital in the area. Arnie and Winnie are included and many people rotate through them. There is no guarantee you would get them though.

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Thanks so much for the detailed info ... much appreciated and helps a lot to know what to expect and budget accordingly. :)

I called today once and was told:" 6 weeks after deadline, by March 1st, hopefully sometime next week."so all 3 responses were given to me at once-so honestly I dont know" so, I guess lets all hope and pray for next week (or sooner)

I think the anxiety on here is greater than it was on the Stony Brook thread :D

Time to kick back with a beverage *wine

Called today...they said March 15th

So disappointed.... I was really holding out for March 1. Oh well, another two weeks of waiting.

I'm disappointed too. Perhaps we will all be pleasantly surprised and they can get notification out to us a little sooner. Even a day sooner would be great!

hopefully it won't be delayed any further than the 15th. going to try to stay busy these next few weeks, and i am completing my cpr class next week. i figure i need to get that done no matter where i end up attending, so i may as well complete it while i am waiting!
