UCF- Accelerated BSN Starting Summer 2012

Published

Anyone applying for UCF's Accelerated BSN program beginning in Summer 2012?

I have no back up plans, this is my only shot! I would most likely apply again next year...

Hi, I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, but I don't think much will change and applying to the same school will probably not help.

This is why:

1. overall gpa won't change much.

2. pre-req gpa won't change

3. TEAS might change.

4. applicants will only get more competitive

That's my 2 cents. I'm just figuring out what to do if I don't get in, and will probably not have my hopes up high with the same school.

Actually I know quite a few people who don't get in the first year but when they re-apply they do. Keep the faith and look at the things you can change to make your application more competitive. If it's really your dream you should go for it. I applied to 6 school....if I don't get into any of them I refuse to just throw the towel in.

On a positive not :) the UCF nursing admissions department told me that we can expect an email decision 6-8 weeks after the deadline....so maybe by March 2nd-ish? I know the website says it too, but a little confirmation from an actual person makes it that much better :)

GOOD LUCK!

Actually this isn't true at all. The advisor at UCF explained to me that with the accelerated program, it isn't so much your individual stats that matter. Don't get me wrong- the higher the stats, the more likely you are to get in. However, what also matters is the stats of the others applying. So, if one year the group as a whole doesn't have a great set of stats, then you may be more likely to get in. Or, looking at it from the other side- if one year everyone applying has super high stats, then even with great scores you might not get accepted. This just varies so much that it means you absolutely should keep trying if this is the school you want and you aren't accepted the first time.

Hopefully, this won't apply to any of us, and we'll all get accepted this year :)

Thanks Nikkilicious for your explanation. If I don't get in this year, then I'll probably apply again. But 1 year of waiting is quite long. Is it easier to get their normal track program as compared to the accelerated?

i heard the traditional track is a lot harder to get into. although that may be hearsay since i did not hear it directly from ucf.

Can anyone see their degree audit yet? I still can't see mine and I am concerned about it.

I can't see mine.

The traditional program is harder to get into, mostly because there are more applicants with competitive admission criteria. I've also "heard" they hold traditional applicants higher because they don't have a Bachelor's in something else so they have pretty much been preparing for nursing. Whether or not it's true I don't know. UNF takes a certain amount from their accelerated pool and offers them traditional seats before traditional applicants apply. UCF you apply separately (which I did as well lol)

and I can't see my degree audit either

I still cannot see my degree audit either, I just checked and nada.

What is a degree audit? Does this only apply to UCF students?

I already posted this, but for some reason it doesn't show on my computer. A degree audit applies to every student who is applying to UCF. For instance, I have never attended UCF, but ideally I would be able to see my degree audit. I believe you can only see it once you have been accepted into the nursing school because I have gained acceptance into the regular college and still can't see it. If/when you get accepted to the CON, you will see the degree audit via the UCF student portal. Hope this help! :)
