UCCS Accelerated Program

Published

Anybody else applying to the ACC BSN at UC-Colorado Springs? It's almost interview and decision time. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything, or is dying in anticipation.

Also, interview tips from previous students would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to you both, sara and jermaine! I was placed on the waitlist =/ I hope you guys enjoy the program and best of luck to you and your future endeavors!

Hey all - I went to bookstore to get an estimate of how much. Do yourself a huge money saver and get your books on Chegg or Amazon. They have much cheaper pricing for rentals and purchase.

Hi everyone! I posted my own thread, but haven't had any responses yet. I'm new to this site, but really hoping on feedback from others. Please help out if you can!

I'm needing help with CSU Pueblo's requirements- their website isn't very helpful. I'm curious that if you start in May, can you still take one or two classes in the spring (Jan-May)? It says something along the lines of 50% of prerequisites must be completed by application date (October 1). Also, what is their application process like-i.e. an interview or an essay requirement? Do you need a full year of chemistry or just one semester? What about their foreign language course- if you took 5 years in middle/high school of Spanish, will they honor that? I'm also curious when they say statistics from a liberal arts program does not count, but another math class can be substituted. I am from Missouri and our programs all require college algebra as well as any statistics (I of course took psychology stats for my major) so I have taken college algebra. Will this count?

My other questions lead to UCCS. What holds more weight- GPA, HESI scores, interview or essay? This is my first choice program, because it is the closest to me among other reasons. I've already been in contact with the nursing advisor, and plan on scheduling a meeting further in the summer to get tips to boost my application. My cumulative GPA from my BS in Psychology (biomedical sciences minor) is 3.22. I am currently taking A&P 2, and in the fall I'll be taking anthropology and chemistry 2, boosting my prereq GPA in the process. Any help from current students in either program would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Makayla -

I am a recent graduate of the UCCS program, so I will attempt address your questions pertaining to UCCS. I can tell you that the formula for weighting the four components of the applicant's portfolio is enigmatic. I do not know how it works exactly or if there even exists a standard formula to compare applicants. Your GPA is fine based on what I know about my class's stats, though you will want to knock out as high a HESI score as possible. Again, I do not know how things are weighted, but I would definitely recommend spending some time writing and revising your essay since it provides you with a great opportunity to put yourself on the admissions committee's radar. If you get called to interview, certainly prepare yourself adequately but know that you have made it past several layers of screening to get there. I found the interview a pleasant experience.

Hello! I am new to this site and I cannot figure out how to start a new thread, so I apologize for posting on this one! I was wondering if anyone is applying to UCCS for the Accelerated BSN program for May 2018? And for any recent grads, do you know what the average GPA/ HESI scores were for those who were admitted? I don't know many people who have gone through the program so I'm just trying to get an idea of if I have a decent chance of getting in. Thanks everyone!
