  1. Congratulations to you both, sara and jermaine! I was placed on the waitlist =/ I hope you guys enjoy the program and best of luck to you and your future endeavors!
  2. How did everyone's interview go?
  3. Hello! Those that got accepted into Beth-El.. do you guys have any tips on the interview process? Does anyone remember any of the questions the interviewers asked? Thanks ahead of time!
  4. Congrats Jermaine!! Good luck on the interview!
  5. I got a call today to schedule an interview too. I'm really nervous though. I interviewed for a different accelerated program a few months ago and didn't get accepted. Does anyone have any tips to prepare for this? Good luck everyone!
  6. aqua2303 - Did they say why?? Don't give up!! Have you tried applying for the traditional program?
  7. Thanks jenny and stacie for the info and the encouragement! I got feedback from EP today and they said that I didn't have enough bedside experience. They also felt, from my interview, that I wouldn't be a good fit for the program due how time consuming it is. I think I made the mistake of mentioning my family, and the fact that they would not be relocating with me to EP. They would be 4 hours away, so I think it made them a little worried that I wouldn't devote myself to this and end up traveling back and forth. I don't know. I'm definitely going to practice those interview questions for the Austin interview! Maybe the traditional program would be better for me? Has anyone heard anything regarding the difference in either programs? aqua2303 and alizma, I hope you guys hear from Austin soon!!
  8. Congrats to you all Flyonn, Jennytmuw, Kaseyroo, Krisared, and Kkcriner for getting the interview!! and congrats to stacienicole and jennytmuw on the acceptance letter! I'm so excited for you guys =] I did get an invitation to Austin, but I got rejected from EP Cohort. It was an extremely sad day, I thought I prepared myself for it, but I guess not enough. It's making me worried about the Austin interview. I'm not sure why they rejected me from EP just yet, I'll find out tomorrow.. but now I guess I need to look into other options as well. If I didn't get into EP, how can I hope to get into Austin which is so much more competitive than EP??! But I'm not giving up!! kkcriner - about your question on states. I have a 3.2-3.3 on all my college coursework, 3.59 on the prerequisites, and 3.8 on the science prerequisites. The only prereqs I'm missing is US History 2 and State/Local Government (I'm not from Texas) Scored a 92.3% on my TEAS. I have over 100+ volunteer hours in healthcare, but only 20 of those were in nursing. I don't have any work experience in nursing, just in other healthcare like optometry and dentistry. I'm hoping to get a job as a CNA, or do some more volunteer hours before the interview and just to prepare myself for applications elsewhere since my chances are looking pretty bleak for Austin. Good luck everyone!! I hope that you all get accepted into the Austin program that applied. Any tips stacie and jenny on the interview? I don't know if I just bombed the interview or if it was my stats or something else entirely! *sigh*
  9. Thank you Kaseyroo!! EP applicants! I had my interview today and it went fine. There were 5 ladies that asked questions that were really geared on seeing whether or not I was a good fit for the program. I also asked multiple questions to see if their program was a good fit for me.. All the ladies will be the class instructors, so get to know them! Then there was an essay portion that really just wanted to make sure you were computer literate, so make sure you take the time to read over the directions before you begin your essay.
  10. For those of you that had posted your stats.. when you guys say cumulative, do you mean just for the prerequisites? Or of all your grades for your bachelors degree? I'm freaking out since my cumulative for all the classes I've taken is so low, but the classes for the prerequisites are better.
  11. El Paso is the same. You do clinicals in a group of 4-5 if you're in the traditional program, but clinicals are done individually in the second-degree pathway. Supposedly, clinicals are going to be at UMC (no guarantees), which is the only level one trauma center in the area. The city itself is nice, but primarily a Hispanic community. Which isn't a bad thing, I just feel that it would hinder me during clinicals. I took my CNA course in El Paso and had a difficult time during clinicals because all my patients only spoke Spanish and I couldn't verbally communicate with them. I had to learn a few phrases to survive and learn.. I hope it's not the same at UMC, and if so, I hope they would help non Spanish speaking students with the language barrier. I'm going to ask during the interview how clinicals are going to be and what type of patients we will see. With El Paso being so close to Juarez, I hope students would get the chance to see a lot of third world pathology that one wouldn't normally see in places like Austin or Lubbock. From the sounds of the email for the interview invitation, it seems like we would get an acceptance/rejection letter after Austin's interview invite, but way before Austin's acceptance letters are sent out.. That makes me worried for you. I hope that El Paso would allow a long period of time for us to either accept or decline the acceptance offer so you have a chance to know about Austin. If we both get accepted into El Paso and you decide to stay, let me know!! I live in New Mexico now, so I'll have to rent a place in El Paso. Students during last year's cohort had ended up rooming together, which I'm sure would save a crap ton of money. I would love to do the same and get roommates who are in the same program as I am, so let me know if you're interested! (I'm getting so ahead of myself lol it's just coming up so quickly and I like to plan ahead) Again, good luck!!
  12. @jennytmuw If you get accepted to both.. which will you choose?? This is so nerve wrecking! Does anyone know how many applied to either El Paso or Austin?
  13. I scheduled it on Monday. You? Do you have any idea what our essay is going to be on? Or how many applicants applied? Congrats on the invite and good luck on your interview!
  14. I applied and got an interview invitation. I heard from another person that there were so few applicants that everyone who applied got an interview. But I'm not sure whether or not that's true.. Did you get invited for an interview? I'm so nervous about it, especially the essay portion.
