I do actually have more info. I was admitted to UCCS and have now completed four semesters there. I was admitted as pre-nursing and completed a semester before taking the HESI. The HESI was was very straight-forward. Get the study book and study it. I know a lot of people that didn't study and didnt get a high enough score the first try. There is also a lot of great flashcards available on quizlet.com, just type in HESI A2. In regards to what they look for: Admission is based on a 5-fold criteria. 1 part for GPA (that's it, so a less than stellar GPA is okay, you do have to have a 3.0 though). The other 4 parts are based on your core HESI scores. So do good on that test! I had a 3.3 GPA but scored a 96 overall on the HESI. I'm currently a Junior and I love the program. Great instructors (well mostly haha), good hospitals, and a fantastic simulation lab. Please let me know any other questions you might have.
