    UCCS Accelerated BSN Acceptance

Hi! So that’s a good question, they don’t really make it very clear. I just graduated from the program in August and I got accepted with a 90 composite. If I can find the broken down scores I’ll post them but I definitely did not get above a 90 in each section. It also varies year to year with how many applicants they have. My best advice is to try to get your application in well before the deadline, sometimes they do rolling admissions and that didn’t help people who waited until the last day. If you have any other questions just ask!

Hi Faith, Charlieangel is spot on. The GPA didn't seem to matter nearly as much as the HESI so I would focus on that. I also found the Pocket Prep app really helpful. It's $15 or something in the App Store but it was worth it. Good luck!!

    UCCS Accelerated BSN Acceptance

Hi! I think it went well, but it was very weird doing it on a computer. At the end of the interview she told me that it should be sometime within the next couple weeks. I am thinking maybe by the middle of the month. I have been obsessively checking my email but nothing yet. I will let you know! Best of luck!

    I failed my HESI A2 twice :(

I found that a lot of the vocab words on my test were in the Mometrix HESI A2 study guide. There were not as many in the Elsevier book but I bought both of those and also purchased the Pocket Prep App as others have recommended. It's a little expensive but very worth it. For the vocab, I would try to learn all you can through memorizing the words in the books, but also try to look for context clues in the sentences. Most of the questions have a hint somewhere else in the sentence and when I didn't know a word, I tried that and it helped. Also, most of the words were in some way related to the medical field and they use a lot of common latin origins, you could try looking at those too! It's hard not to get frustrated, I'm sorry this happened! Try to set up a schedule for yourself to do a little bit each day. Unfortunately, this is really not a test that many can cram for, there is just too much information. I would suggest starting at least a month before the test. Take as many practice tests as you can and just try to go into the test as confident as you can. Best of luck on your next test!!!

    1/5/2018 HESI A2!!

I just took the test last month and I bought the full version of the pocket prep app and answered all the questions. It lets you mark the ones you miss so you can go back to them which was nice. I also bought two prep books, the Mometrix one and the Elsevier book. They were both really helpful but I think the pocket prep app helped the most. With that being said, DO NOT JUST USE THE APP! The A&P questions are much more in depth I thought than the ones in the pocket prep app. I also used old class notes to study the endocrine system, nervous system and some other things. There was a couple very specific questions that asked about flow direction of blood through the heart and one that asked about the origin of earwax so just relying on the pocket prep app would be a mistake. The math is really really simple math. Most of it you can do in your head but I did double check everything with a calculator. There were a lot of percentages and fractions so just take your time and make sure you don't just rush through and you will be fine. I sometimes struggle with math so I was worried about this part but I got a 98%. My best advice is to not just use the pocket prep app (although it is amazing) and don't wait until the last minute to study. Good luck everyone!!

That's great mskw! Way earlier than expected! I haven't received anything yet but fingers crossed. Thanks for posting! Good to know it could possibly be an email, I was expecting a phone call! Kvan327, I am not sure about averages unfortunately! I wish I did, I think I am on the fence, I did well on the HESI but my undergrad GPA is not as high as it could be. Good luck to both of you!

    UCCS Accelerated BSN Acceptance

Hey mskw! I tried to PM you but I am struggling with this website. I have a friend who went through the program a few years ago and from everything I have read and what she has said, they start calling people for interviews at the end of January, its coming up fast! I did pretty well on the HESI but I am a little more worried about my GPA, so it is probably a toss up but I am trying not to get too worried since I do not have much to compare it to! Best of luck to you!

    UCCS Accelerated BSN Acceptance

Hello! I was wondering if anyone is applying to UCCS for the Accelerated BSN program for May 2018? And for any recent grads, do you know what the average GPA/ HESI scores were for those who were admitted? I don't know many people who have gone through the program so I'm just trying to get an idea of if I have a decent chance of getting in. Thanks everyone!
