UC Denver Traditional Program 2018

Published

Hello Everyone!

I thought it would be a good idea to post a forum for anyone who is applying to the University of Denver Traditional nursing program. I just finished my application about two weeks ago and I was wondering who all have done the same!?

I noticed it is a different schedule for interviews this year, it is much later now. We don't do interviews till January 12th and then we find out around February 15th.

Has anyone ever applied before? This is my first time.

Hi Everyone!

I have been searching for a thread for this years application and I am so glad I found one! I submitted my application, and like everyone else am extremely nervous to see if I get an interview or not. I have a decent GPA, but am registered to take Micro next semester and am worried that not having that completed before the application deadline means I won't be considered at all. Wishing everyone the best of luck!

I am taking micro in the spring as well. I am nervous about it too.

Does anyone know the specific courses for the prerequisite GPA? Is it the courses on the NursingCAS applications?

How do you check your GPA on NursingCAS? They emailed me about being able to see my GPA but I still haven't figured it out.

I found mine by downloading my application. but I didn't find a specific prerequisite GPA.

Hey Everyone! It seems like we are all in the same boat! I just applied for their traditional program.

I have a Pre-Req GPA of 3.9 and overall GPA of 3.57--- not a clue what this will mean for me.

I have about 150 hours of volunteer experience, but no human medical experience ( I have been an animal nurse for 7 years).

Anyone have past experience with applying, or know anyone in the program with reviews or advice about the program and quality of the staff/curriculum/clinical placements?

I wish all of you the best of luck, looks like it should be just about 2 weeks now until we find out if we've made it to the next steps.

Last question: Is anyone applying to other Denver schools? I am looking into Regis- Pre-reqs are similar, but it is quite a bit more cost-wise. I have seen some up and down about Denver School of Nursing, and Metropolitan seems to be very different with pre-requisites, the HESI/TEAS, etc.

Thanks!!

Hey Y'all!

I just wanted to jump into this discussion as I have already been accepted into this program via the Integrated Nursing Pathway route at Community College of Denver. For those of you who may not know what that is, it is a program designed to give community college students a chance to earn a 4 year degree. Community College of Aurora and Red Rocks participate as well, and there is about 60 of us altogether. Anywho, I believe you guys will be the ones my cohort merges with in June. We are entering finals week for English Comp 2, Micro, A&P1 and Nursing Professionalism 1 right now. Next semester we will be taking A&P2, Medical Anthropology, Human Growth & Development, Nursing Professionalism 2 and US History to finish out all the pre-reqs. To my knowledge, this is either the first or second year where they only look at your pre-req GPA now. They used to look at your cumulative, but not anymore. We will graduate in May with our associate's (pre-nursing) and I believe our first day at CU is June 4th, but they advised us that if we were to go on vacation we need to be back by Memorial day for orientation week. Not sure if that is the same for traditional students. Good luck to those that are applying, hopefully we will get to meet at orientation!

Does anyone have any information on the interview? Not the dates but I mean how it is structured and the process of it?

I have looked at past discussions and they said it was group interviews with basic questions like in the essays, but that was from a couple of years ago. I have no idea what the interview will look like this year.

When I interviewed, they took two of us at a time but we were interviewed separately. Two people interviewed me (one person from CCD and one from CU). I forget the questions they asked, but I do remember they asked me what my goals were. Then after we finished the interview. They brought a group of 4 of us to the writing lab to write a spontaneous essay. We had 45 minutes to write how we could bring diversity to the program. This was through the INP program, so the traditional interviews might be different.

It is already the 4th of December! We will be hearing from UC soon about the interview and i'm so nervous. Crossing my fingers!!!!

Hi everyone! I've been looking for this thread. Still waiting for an email about the interview! I am from out of state, so the tuition is extremely pricey. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and my undergrad GPA is a 3.87, only one B for the Gen Chem prereq. I have volunteered in the emergency room over 100 hours, so hopefully that will be enough experience.

Good luck to everyone!

Kaitlyn
