UC Denver Traditional Program 2018

Published

Hello Everyone!

I thought it would be a good idea to post a forum for anyone who is applying to the University of Denver Traditional nursing program. I just finished my application about two weeks ago and I was wondering who all have done the same!?

I noticed it is a different schedule for interviews this year, it is much later now. We don't do interviews till January 12th and then we find out around February 15th.

Has anyone ever applied before? This is my first time.

Alyssa

Hi Alyssa!

I just send my application! I've been searching a post for this year's forum and finally found it!

This is my first time as well. I am so nervous! I'm curious when we will be notified for our interview decisions!

Yay! I'm glad. I am so nervous as well! I heard they will email us in the first couple weeks of December and then the interview is January 12th. I heard they accept around 180 applicants but they get around 800-900 applications too so that is so nerve racking!

Do you have any medical experience at all?

Alyssa

I turned in my application last month! Such a long wait to find out about the interview. I'm applying from out of state so I'm not sure I'll be able to go, even if I get accepted, due to the astronomical tuition for non-residents. I'm also thinking about applying to the Denver School of Nursing for the July 2018 start. Even though it's a private school their tuition is still cheaper than CU for non-residents.

Yes! I got the email as well. Yea after hearing they only accept around 180 applicants, I was even more nervous. I think my GPA is pretty good but yea what concerns me the most is medical experience. I only have experience of shadowing nurses and no volunteer/work experience at all. I work part time when I am not in school so it is hard to squeeze in volunteer hours. Out-of-state as well so I need to save money! I am from Alaska and they UC is one of the school that are in Western Exchange Program so definitely my first choice! What are your medical experiences?

Hi there! So glad to have found this thread. I'm applying in this application cycle as well and glad to have some extra insight.

Looking forward to possibility meeting you all! Best of luck with this process.

This is my first time applying as well. I am nervous about how few they take. My GPA is good, but not amazing. I have some medical shadow experience, but not many plain volunteer hours. I am anxiously waiting for the email. Does anyone know if they email just those who are selected for the interview or everyone?

Hi. I have been looking for a forum for this! I submitted my application over a month ago. This program is very competitive. I actually applied to UCAN this year (the accelerated one) & didn't get invited to an interview b/c I didn't have direct medical experience, so I decided to apply to the traditional one.

I have medical experience, but they are not direct. I've done medical scribing and also have been a school nurse. I have my BS in biology, and an MS in Anatomy. I am actually nervous due to the competitiveness of this program. Don't worry if you don't have medical experience, because the traditional program doesn't require it.

Luckily for the traditional program they do not require medical experience so you should still be good! I currently have been working at Children's Hospital in the PICU as a CNA for the last couple years. I am hoping that experience along with my volunteer work will look good to them, but you never know! It is so competitive...

Hey! I have heard they email people for the interview, and I heard that email will be sent out mid December.

What is everyone's GPAs if you don't mind me asking? I know they look at prerequisite GPA the most and that at least needs to be 3.0, but I've heard they look at your cumulative GPA as well (correct me if I am wrong).

My prerequisite GPA is a 3.82 and my cumulative is a 3.54

Hi guys! So glad I found this thread. I was on the waitlist last year and unfortunately did not get called. I do know how incredibly competitive it is. Wanted to wish everyone good luck!!
