UC Davis Nurse Residency September 2013 cohort

U.S.A. California

The application filing just opened less than hour ago and they will accept the first 500 applications for review.

I thought I would start up a new thread so we can all share in the application process.

Also, anyone have any tips from prior cohorts with regards to the application process?

I didn't see any unit preference form in the application. I thought they were going to include that.

This application was exactly how it was during the last round. When my friend got an interview for the last round, they pretty much just called him and said that he was interviewing for a certain floor (they chose), and asked if he was interested.

After submitting the app, I got email that says "To ensure your application was successfully submitted follow this link..."

I followed the link, signed in alright, but there is no "View application status" as an option. I am confused.

Was everybody able to go back and view their application status?

Each school has a different amount of senior preceptorship hours. My school had 255hrs and usually you will get a call depending on which units are hiring and where you precepted

wouldn't let me input my certifiations except ACLS and RN licensure

Yeah I wanted to put my other certifications too. I'm hoping that the application part is more formality and they are actually looking at cover letter/resume

Thank you for starting this thread! I had trouble with the app. too, but is seems everything went through. For clinical hours we had average 120 hours x 6 semesters. The University of Colorado Hospital application new grad program asked for the exact same clinical hours information. The survey was the same as for UCLA, so maybe all UC hospitals are using it?

Also wondering if anyone had a number in front of their application status? Maybe it indicates order of applications received?

It didn't let me put BLS either so I selected CPR certified...

Specializes in ICU.

Not sure. Mine says 020. Do you have the same number?

Just fyi, everyone will have the same status changes at the same time (they are not individualized) no matter what, so when you see a status change, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are moving forward. The number at the end of your status just correlates with where HR is in the application process. I believe it is 20 for applied, 40 for routed, and 60 for interview. Good luck everyone!

@Enthused_Nurse2B yes, mine says 20 too, @sorificettBSN, thanks for the info.

I tried to see if they were still taking applicants today, and the New Grad position is already taken down.. That was fast, but hopefully we will get feedback sooner...

No one said this yet on here, I think.

I talked to someone from nurse recruiting on Tuesday and they said they are hiring 40 new grads, "the most we've ever taken." So, all other things being equal 40/500 x100% = 8% chance of getting a job if you got your application in.

Are you sure that 40 wasn't regarding the cohort that just started? I'm currently in the July cohort that just started and we have about 39-40 people in our group. Lots of nurses are retiring this year so that 40 could be very well possible but I just wanted to make sure if it really is for the next coming cohort.

Would you be willing to shed some light on the process? How were the interviews? I've heard something about a skills assessment or something? How long was it from application to interviewing to being hired? And so forth..

Thanks in advance :)
