UC Davis MEPN 2018

Published

Just wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall 2018 UCD MEPN program! And if anyone knows how many applicants they have/ get in?

Hey @V_Grey18,

I emailed them again just asking if there is a timeframe that waitlisted students should be hearing back by and if we hear back if we don't get off the waitlist. Hopefully, we hear back soon. I want to be able to have time to relocate to Sacramento/Davis. My biggest concern is having enough time to get financial aid/loans done prior to the start of the program.

I applied to many schools of out state. The only other two MEPN programs that I applied for were USF and Rush University. I was waitlisted for USF and didn't get off. I was accepted to Rush but declined because I decided I didn't want to move all the out there. I'm currently applying to more programs right now since they're opening up (SMU ABSN + ELMS FNP, UCD again, and maybe some others).

Are you from the Sacramento/Bay Area? Is this the only school you're hearing back from right now?

I think you'll receive the same response that I've received all along: "Your waitlist status may remain until the end of June." Fortunately, I am from the Sacramento area but much like yourself, I too would like to be financially prepared to pay the program fees through private loans.

I applied to Sac. State's nursing program and unfortunately I did not get in (I found out about 3 weeks ago). I will also be applying to SMU's ABSN and possibly ELMSN FNP. I attended SMU's 3-day Nursing Success Seminar in Oakland last summer and it was a wonderful experience. I highly encourage attending this event if you haven't already. The information can be found on their website but you will need to submit an application if you would like to attend.

Do you have any idea about when they conduct interviews in UCDAVIS? Also any tips about interview.

I am recent graduate of the UCD and wanted to apply in MEPN program. I am little confused between NP vs MEPN do they have same scope of practice. Also, any insight about application process and how LOR things work would be really helpful. I have no clue how things work here since i am the first graduate in United States from my family. Any help, tips, advices from you are welcome. Also I have sent you the friend request. I would really love to get some mentoring from you since you are already in the program and have gone through the application process.

Thank you in Advance.

I am recent graduate of the UCD and wanted to apply in MEPN program. I am little confused between NP vs MEPN do they have same scope of practice.

RNs and NPs have distinctly different scopes of practice. In general, RNs cannot order procedures, medications or diagnostic tests. They do not formulate medical diagnoses.

Nurse practitioners can independently diagnose and care for patients. They are allowed to prescribe medications and order diagnostics. Acquisition of an NP license requires an additional one to two years of formal education, including at least 500 hours of clinical experience.

Graduates of the MEPN program at Betty Irene Moore graduate with a master of science in nursing (MSN) and are eligible to sit for the registered nurse licensing exam. The program is 18 months long.

Hi! I'm curious how your time is going! I am applying for the 2019 admissions and would love to hear any insight or exciting things about the program from someone who is in and enjoying it! Thanks for your time in advance

Hi @livewellmm, do you know if there is a UCD MEPN 2019 thread? I just found this one and learned that UCD offered MEPN for Public Health Nursing and I would like to apply. I have learned a lot from this one and would be great to start one for 2019 if there isn't one already.

Has anyone heard back from the waitlist?

@V_Grey18 nope. Still waiting. I sent them another email today. let me know if you have any updates :) still hoping for the best since the program is starting in just a few weeks!
