UC Davis MEPN 2018

Published

Just wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall 2018 UCD MEPN program! And if anyone knows how many applicants they have/ get in?

Hello all! I too have been accepted and came across this thread in my search for more details on the program, schedule, financial aid, etc. Does anyone have a link to the academic calendar for the nursing school? I can only find one for the regular university and the med school. Thanks in advance!

I emailed admissions and got some answers:

Is there a deposit required to hold my spot? There is no deposit.

I submitted my FAFSA right away to ensure the best possible funding. Are there any additional forms I need to submit? Students who accept their place in the cohort will be required to send a supplemental financial aid form to the Health System Financial Aid Office. More information will be provided in mid-February.

When will I find out if I qualify and more details about securing student aid? Please direct all financial aid questions to the Financial Aid Office: Contact Us.

Are there any additional scholarship opportunities or funding sources available? Yes-if you submitted additional essays as part of your UC Davis Graduate Studies application, you may be eligible to be awarded additional funding. We will notify the winners of competitive scholarships by email in June. You may also be interested in reviewing our website for possible scholarships or loan repayment programs, listed under "Financial Support": Admissions and aid – Master's Entry Program in Nursing.

In terms of the actual program, I noticed that many MEPN programs offer CNL certification upon completion of the program. It does not appear that CNL certification is part of the UC Davis MEPN, and just curious if you can confirm that, and also if there is a reason why/why not? To keep the program length at 18 months, graduates are not eligible to become certified as a CNL. Instead, our graduates are eligible for certification as a Public Health Nurse.

Lastly, what day does the program begin? Classes will begin on July 2nd, and Leadership Immersion (orientation) will be held during the week of June 25th.

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back yet? Still crossing my fingers! I just got accepted to USD, but I would love to go to Davis -- especially because it's a shorter program!

I'm also waitlisted, but haven't heard anything yet... :/

well UCLA MECN decisions are coming out right now so maybe waitlist spots will start opening up?

did you get an email from UCLA? on the other forum, people were saying results come out end of March :/

Hi guys! I know it's been quiet for some time now. I simply wanted to inquire if anyone from the wait-list has heard about a status update? I called the number on the website and again, the response was vague and was simply told that it was an ongoing process.

I was given an acceptance offer initially and if I'm remembering correctly, our date to decide was April 15th. Therefore, I would hang in there as they are probably going through the waitlist over the next few weeks. Good luck! I decided to attend another school so hoping someone will get offered my seat soon!

Congratulations on your acceptance mforte7! If you don't mind me asking, which nursing program will you be attending? Thank you so much for replying back to me, that gives me hope. I wish you well on your academic and career endeavors.

No problem, I chose to attend UCSF. Thanks for the well wishes and same to you!

Hi all, it's been pretty quiet in this forum. For those who are waitlisted, have any of you heard back yet? I know that the deadline for accepted students to give a yay or nay was April 15th. Just getting antsy about the waitlist... Has anyone tried to call the school and ask about it?

Hello juuchu,

I am also a waitlisted candidate and I have received very vague responses via telephone and email. Over the phone, I have been told that it is an ongoing process and that various waitlist spots have already been opening up. However, I believe the individual I spoke to was referring to all the programs in general and not MEPN. Meanwhile, my response via email is as follows: "As a spot becomes available on the cohort, waitlisted applicants will be evaluated using various factors as determined by the Admissions Committee." As you can see, this is all vague and I can also attest that I am antsy myself. Did you apply elsewhere?
