UBC 2021

Hiya folks!

It's a bit early, but since the application period opens in a couple of months, I thought I'd start this topic to share support/encouraging words/info/nervousness.

Is anyone else already excited for next September?

Don’t worry! I think it depends on when you submitted your supplemental. It should change soon!

Hey guys, is anyone here currently taking BIOL 235 at Athabasca University? If so, what did you guys do or would recommend to help study for the midterms? Were the quizzes a good reflection or the study guide? Thanks!

I've only done quiz one and two. I found the quiz harder than the midterm. I think it's a good practice for the midterm though. I got the same mark on both.  The orion practice quizzes aren't very helpful, they are way too easy. I found using quizlet helpful, they have flashcards there and I'm also watching Anatomy GMC on Youtube, she does a good job of going over the whole chapter which I find a lot less dry than just trying to read it.

BSc Psych, just finishing up my last semester (YAY!), initially I was going to do a masters program in clinical psychology but I had a change of heart after my second year. I was always interested in nursing and in hindsight should have just went into it after high school. I have a 3.95 (UBC Scale) on my last 30 credits, volunteer experience at local hospitals, cancer and schizophrenia societies... Currently employed at a dermatologists office as an MOA which I love and many years of experience caring for a family member with a disability. I feel pretty darn good about my supplemental application, the only thing I’m worried about is my CASPer. It drives me NUTS knowing that we don’t get the scores haha.

Wow I made an account just reply back to this..That's so crazy because I'm in the exact same boat as you! Doing my last semester of Bsc Psych and changed my mind right after second year as well. I also really wish I had done nursing after high school and although I also loved studying psych, doing a Masters is just not for me! Sounds like you have an amazing application, I was so happy to see someone with a very similar journey LOL. Goodluck!!

So I reread my application and found a few grammatical errors...does anyone know if this will affect the evaluation?

Honestly, I don't think they would penalize you for an occasional grammatical error. I think as long as the errors don't take away from the meaning of what you said and the experience, skills, and values you try to communicate, then all is well! It's been sooo hard trying not to go back to my supplemental every day and think about what I could have said differently or didn't say at all. However, I think all we can do now is be kind to ourselves and know that we tried our best!
