UBC 2022 Nursing

Published

Hey guys! I just wanted to start this post for anyone applying for the 2022 cycle for UBC nursing.  Just wondering where everyone is coming from and their experiences.

Specializes in Mental Health and Addictions.

Hello everyone :)

I have just started my application for the 2022 intake. I will be taking my CASPer on January 13th. My GPA is not overly competitive so I'm really depending on my supplemental and CASPer to boost my overall score. I will be starting my HAP pre-requisite on December 1st, BIOL 235 through Athabasca University.

A little bit about me...I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts with a major in criminology in 2016. I have been working in mental health and addictions for almost five years. In the past five years I have helped open a safe injection site, worked as a case manager, and now work at a supportive housing site for chronically homeless adults experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. I have also worked at a municipal police department in their city jail cells for three years.

I have volunteered in many capacities, mostly related somehow to the criminal justice system with other experience mentoring disadvantaged youth.

Looking forward to getting to know my future classmates (manifesting it for all of us!) and I wish everyone success during this process.

Hey guys,

After submitting the online application through education planner, do we need to contact IT service to get our CWL account activated? I wasn't sure how to sign up for it with the given login username.

Does anyone know if I can apply for another program with the same CASPer result? I understand I can only write one CASPer per admission cycle. I was wondering if we are allowed to add another institution on my distribution list?

I have this question too, I have Casper booked for VCC, and I need here now too

I was looking around the website, and I think you're able to!

Login to your Casper, so you're in your home page.

Click on "Reservations" at the top which should be beside "Home"
You should see the CASper test you reserved and see:

Test Code, Admissions Cycle, Distribution(s) VIEW/ADD
As long as the other institution is requiring you to take the SAME TYPE of CASper test, you should be okay.

I the above commenter mentioned this but just wanted to add. I believe you can use the same CASPer for multiple. You just have to pay the distribution fee for each. I’m applying to 2 other schools so I added both to there and just paid extra.

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know anything about Snapshot? I knew that we had to complete CASPer but I only heard about Snapshot after I signed up for CASPer.

Hi! Applying to the 2022 cohort. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a minor in biochemistry. I have worked as a lab technician and currently working as a medical lab assistant/phlebotomist. I'm working on my application and personal statement ♡ best of luck to everyone applying!

Are there any applicants here that are taking the BCIT BHSC 0020 anatomy and physiology challenge exam to satisfy the HAP prerequisite?

Hey everyone! I'm also applying to the program for the second time this year! I'm working on boosting my CASPer and GPA this year :) Good luck everyone!!

Hi everyone,

I just started my supplemental application and have booked my CASPer test for February 1st. I finished my bachelor of arts in criminology and psychology. My experience includes working in customer service, behaviour intervention, RAing and TAing. I've been volunteering as a crisis responder since the Summer. I'm just finishing off my prerequisite courses for nursing now, but my GPA is in the low-mid 80s.

Can anyone please confirm whether or not we need to provide references as part of our application to ubc nursing? When I look at the admission requirements page and the supplemental application form, I don't see anything about needing references. But when I Google "ubc nursing references," a page comes up stating that we need to provide 2 people who can supply a reference.
