UBC BSN September 2018 Applicants

Published

Hello fellow applicants!

I was browsing and did not see a thread for the 2018 UBC BSN applicants so thought I'd start one.

I am just finishing up my supplemental nursing application and hope to finish my application by the end of today and have already submitted my transcript. Just wanted to know who else is applying/GPA/past experiences with UBC/any tips or information for the application anyone wishes to share.

A bit about myself.. I am currently an LPN working at a hospital and also work part-time in retail in a leadership role, I do not have a Bachelor's degree but am applying anyways (hoping my supplemental weighs heavy in my favour). I have a GPA of 3.55 and will have ~30 credits at the end of this Fall term. I have some volunteer experience working with companies during their charity campaigns and am hoping to do more volunteer work this year. I will also be applying to BCIT, Langara and Queen's University once their applications open up.

Good luck to everyone and please share any information you're able too!

This has been the most tense Thursday of the year so far... I was so hopeful that the release date for last year would be the same for this year! I guess there really are only two business days left in April so we are bound to find out either tomorrow or Monday!

And now I feel it will be the most tense Friday! I'm sure we are all on pins and needles waiting.

Has anyone spoken to admissions? Perhaps we should call and see when they plan on sending out the responses.

Hopeful_Nurse2018 I totally agree! I haven't been able to think about much else today, haha.

I work with an Admissions Officer for a different Nursing program and having seen how overwhelming the task is for such competitive programs, I've held back on contacting Ruxandra too much. The more calls/emails they have to take, the more delayed the release of acceptance/rejection emails. Trust me though I've definitely spent the last week wishing I had access to the UBC AO! I would probably only pepper her with about a million questions if I could.

I'm expecting a response within the next 4 hours hopefully about our admission statuses. It seems like it would most likely be today that we are emailed, but it very well could be Monday instead. Still refreshing the UBCSSC every half hour or so all morning though to check!

I just found this on the UBC Nursing Admissions Blog - BSN Admissions Blog | A resource for UBC-Vancouver BSN applicants

"We are currently reviewing the applications and plan to inform all applicants regarding their admission status by the end of April."

Good luck to everyone, I hope the wait is over soon!

Thanks Britt_MPH - that makes me feel better if even more anxious haha

Hey! Just signed up. If anyone gets an acceptance email, can they please say so? I heard a rumor that the acceptance letters are sent in the morning and rejections in the afternoon.. so I'm sweating bullets here!

Nothing here yet. í ½í¸®

Nothing yet for me... except for extreme anxiousness!

Omg every time I get a notification about this thread and see 'ubc' in the subject line I freak out.

I'm starting to suspect this isn't going to happen today.... : (

Still waiting, too! I feel like if nobody hears anything by 4, I'll have to try to smother the nerves over the weekend and 'reset' my anxiety clock to wait til noonish on Monday...
