UAMS Summer 2015

U.S.A. Arkansas

Anybody else applying or have already applied for the BSN program at UAMS this upcoming summer? Thought I'd start a thread for us to wait it out together and pass on any info!

I just spoke with a lady and stated that they were still sending out emails for interviews but yes you're definitely right about that. When one door closes, another opens. It's in his hands. I spoke with someone I work with and she stated that she has her interview tomorrow though.

Spoke with a coworker who had her interview today & stated that they did indeed say 65 or higher on TEAS & taking the top 120 applicants.

so basically they are interviewing everyone even if they dont have a 65 on the TEAS?

I say that because my friend made a 62 and still received and interview......confused.

Yeah it is confusing. Idk because she made a 64, so something is not being communicated. So idk what the deal is.

well I don't believe it is fair to interview someone, and make them believe they have a chance when they don't...did you mean to say you made a 64?

The head admissions lady told me on the phone everyone above a 60 gets an interview, but in my interview those ladies told me 65 and up get one. So yea, someone is misinformed somewhere there. What is the point of the interview if they take top applicants anyway?

I personally was told that once you receive an interview that indicates you have passed the academic portion. After your interview depending on if it goes well or not and based on the competitiom that's when they accept or decline. So basically I took it as interview was make it or break it..? But who the heck knows

Sounds like the faculty interviewing is not sure.

Well that's not fair either. Some people are awkward and don't do well in interviews. It's very nerve-wracking! Idk I'm just ready to find out if I got in or not.

I think they are trying to cover all aspects..personality/academics you know. Makes sense to me and Ill take it because I do well in interviews just dont have the highest grades haha Im almost tempted to ask them in the interview but I don't want to be too forward...

I understand that, but I just think 2 years of working hard toward this goal should be more important than 30 minutes of wowing them with personality. Say someone with a 2.5 gpa has a great interview, should they get the spot over someone with a 4.0 who was extremely nervous and didn't interview well?

BTW they want you to ask questions at the end of the interview. I asked quite a few myself, so don't worry about being too forward. I'm sure you'll do great!
