UAMS Summer 2015

U.S.A. Arkansas

Published

Anybody else applying or have already applied for the BSN program at UAMS this upcoming summer? Thought I'd start a thread for us to wait it out together and pass on any info!

Oh no I totally agree with you! Im just saying if two candidates are on the same playing field with the same grades and one interviews well and the other doesn't I think thst would be fair game. Butttt you also have to take into account someone with a 4.0 and perfect TEAS score may not have the social skills required to be and RN. They said to me on the phone "you can only tell so much from GPA and TEAS scores." It goes both ways you know haha Ultimate grades trumph buttttt social skills are a must as well I think that's all they are getting at with an interview!

Okay good! I have plenty to ask them! Thanks :) fingers crossed it'll work out for us!!!

I agree with you all too. Same with tests as well, you may be well in social skills, have good grades but have anxiety when it comes to taking tests, especially standardized ones, which I think shouldn't determine if you're going to be a good nurse or not or be able to handle the course work of the program & I scored a 59.7% the 2nd time I took it, I felt horrible & like a dummy, which I know I'm not but maybe it wasn't meant for me this go round which is why I applied to UALR LPN TO RN program as a back up. But I think you ladies got it! It's already done!

And I shouldn't say someone with a perfect GPA and test scores may not have the best social skills because that does not go for everyone. I am just meaning if someone's a super genius sometimes they tend to not do so well sonically. A person can only have so much ya know! Haha just needed to set that straight. I will be satisfied with UALR but UAMS is where I want to

be sooo bad so I guess we will see where we end up!

I guess that's why they do take everything into account. There is always going to be those that don't do well in one area, but excel in the others. I'll be happy with UALR too, but I'm really hoping for UAMS. It's definitely my first choice.

I had my interview today and it went pretty well. Two ladies interviewed me and they were really nice. The questions were pretty much what everyone else has been saying why do you want to be a nurse, speciality, things like that. I call them selling yourself questions nothing that was hard. During my time to ask questions I did ask about the TEAS score since it has been a lot of talk about it. From my understanding they could be raising it to 65 after this group. Which could be why some people were saying that's what they were told. So if you get an interview you have a chance to get into the program. They're not interviewing people to waste time. So if you have one coming up good luck.

That makes me feel sooo much better!! Thank you for that info!! I'm glad your interview went well :)

Glad it went well! Did you ask when acceptance letters were going out?

Yes 2nd week in April is what they are shooting for.

I have also applied for the program this summer. Iwas conditionally accepted to the program last summer but ended my stats class with a 66. Boooo! Talk about heartbreaking but I have been working on my BS in psych until this summer. I have since retaken and made an A in stats. I had my interview on Feb 12 and now just jumping on t he mailbox everytime the mailman runs. My acceptance letter was dated 3/21 last yr.

Good luck all on this nerve wracking wait and on getting into the program.

I bet that was heartbreaking, but you made the most of it and have an even higher gpa now! I bet you'll get in for sure this year. I was hoping they would send out acceptances this Friday before Spring Break like last year, but they are still doing interviews this week. Maybe we'll get lucky anyway! Like you, I've been stalking my mailbox for a month now!

I called today and was told acceptance letters will go out the end of this week! It's so close!

Awesome!! (I hope) I found a really cool post on here earlier. It was a students guide to nursing school and it seems like it may be helpful. If I can figure out how to share it I will.
