UALR Nursing Program Applicant 2016

U.S.A. Arkansas

Published

Just applied for the Summer 2016 AAS-RN program. Long wait until March to find out whether I am have been accepted or not. Thought I would get a thread started for this years applicants!

Well, its one day after the 7th.... I am hoping to hear something soon, I wonder if they will make it through the entire waitlist???? I also wonder how long do you have to submit payment for class once accepted? It is only 1 class for July correct? and after passing that class you go on to a full schedule with clinicals and etc??? right? I feel like its hard to get accurate information about program and calling or speaking to someone in the Nursing dept leads to a brick wall

Just keep holding on. There were a few people who dropped the class so they may have already gone ahead and added some people from the top of the list. I am not sure how many they add in July so I can't be sure if they will completely go through the whole wait list. There is only one more skills class in July and then med/surg starts in August. That course will have a clinical. You owe the money for the summer course in full on about the second day of class. You are not allowed to use financial aid in the summer unless you had money left over from the spring semester.

Hope that helped!

I did get an acceptance letter last Friday, but had to decline it due to lack of money and a new job. So, I hope that one you are able to take my spot. I will try and re-apply in January and hope for the best. Good Luck t everyone.

@jcam072515 SEARK (South East Arkansas College) located in Pine Bluff, which will be a 40 min drive for me everyday, but I am prepared for the commute. Pine bluff Surprisingly has several board Certified Schools there even one of the Hospitals has a Nursing program...I just chose that SEARK due to the No Wait List Enrollment

I hope your circumstances will be better for you to attend in the future @llcoleman9, its definitely not easy coughing up a large amount of cash in so little time. Not sure if someone has mentioned this already or not, but how expensive is the Nurs 1300 course???

Also not sure of any ones financial predicament but We are hiring at the AR Heart Hospital for techs, PRN, FT/PT ...most techs starting pay is 13-14$ per hour 12 hour shifts if anyone is intrested. I will be working PRN while in Nursing school and they are offering tuition reimbursement like UAMS are extremely flexible with nursing students as far as accommodation with school schedules....Just wanted to provide any helpful info for Future UALR Nurses:-)

That's awesome, I appreciate you sharing that information. I'm going to check on that ASAP!!!

Would they be interested in someone without a tech certification? Just curious?

I was originally wait listed the year I applied (2012) as were a lot of others. I and others got a phone call the last week of June saying we were in the class that started July 5. There were 59 of us in that class. So until the class starts, don't give up yet.
