UALR Nursing Program Applicant 2016

U.S.A. Arkansas

Published

Just applied for the Summer 2016 AAS-RN program. Long wait until March to find out whether I am have been accepted or not. Thought I would get a thread started for this years applicants!

No ma'am. I just hope they don't send them out a week before tuition is due lol.

You guys will probably find out closer to the end of the month because we are just starting our second week.

Here's an update as promised:

This journey is going to for sure be a crazy ride. We just had our first test ever and the class is definitely starting to pick up. It's going to be somewhat difficult due to all the info/skills we have to master in such a short time. I basically study every day from sun up to sun down so don't expect to have any free time other than if you work or something. Getting ready to go in to work early so I can have an hour to read. I will come home after I get off work and study until I fall asleep. Lol. It's do able but you have to work hard if you want to make it through. Good luck you guys and I hope to see you all in the fall! :)

Rough but doable not including stess for life but ya most the people that did bad admitted they slacked off so far.

I think that a few people were honestly blindsided by the test too though. It's so different from any other exam in other courses and it's stressful also because you know you have to retain all the info you are learning to be able to do your job (successfully lol) one day.

Woo I'm so excited I got my acceptance letter today!!!! :)

Well surprisingly, I'm hearing back from every other school I applied except UALR. I emailed them my spring grades for Micro abd Chemistry from PTC and i got a Thankyou Reply. So far I've been accepted into SEARK RN program in pine bluff. ( Cant find anyone who has attended) I went to pick up packet info and meet students and saw that there will only be 8 of us attending (starts AUG 8) if I choose to go here....I'm not sure with a class of 8 is good or bad but this is my backup in case I Dont get into UALR. I also got a letter from National Park stating that bc I scored a 58 on the ATI (59.3 and above is needed for acceptance to RN) that they would like to offer me LPN seat instead but I'm sure I will be declining that seat. My fingers and toes are crossed for UALR or wherever the man above sees fit for me to go. But I'm not spending a penny on SEARK supplies until I know an answer for sure from UALR. Congrats to the ones that have recently been acceptedí ½í¸€í ½í¸€í ½í¸€ into UALR!

Hey, just wanted to encourage you to keep trying for UALR, but if you don't get in really try to keep your options open to attending an LPN program. It's not the worst thing ever and so many schools offer bridge programs. Obviously, if everything checks out with the SEARK RN program, definitely attend that one if UALR doesn't work out, but just don't be opposed to bridging because at least you are getting the first year out of the way instead of doing nothing. Just a thought. Take it for what it's worth:) My aunt did that and she is now a nurse manager and is getting her masters in nursing education.

You are absolutely right:-) Thank you for the positive outlook, I'm so pressed to get in an official RN program I didn't think about an bridging option (hopefully National Park offers this) But SEARK is definitely an option as well, I'm just hesitant of the class size being so small for strict criticism which is scary to me VS the good large class size UALR offers with a variety of teaching styles, clinical settings, and I hear the instructors really encourage throughout the program and invite you to meet with them one on one to get a better understanding. This says a lot about a program when they really push their students to succeed;-)

I see one person received an acceptance letter so far, anyone else?

I have heard of one other person that has gotten an acceptance letter and she said they have until the 7th to respond so I assume/hope they will be sending another batch out this week!.

No problem. I was going to apply to an LPN program if I didn't get in. What/where is SEARK? I've never heard of it, but I'm also not from Arkansas.
