Just applied for the Summer 2016 AAS-RN program. Long wait until March to find out whether I am have been accepted or not. Thought I would get a thread started for this years applicants!
So I have our class syllabus and the class looks like it may be fairly intense with a lot of reading and clinical skills to learn in a quick timeframe in order to test on. The nice part is that when you buy the nursing handbook, the course syllabus is in it and is outlined unit by unit with all the chapter readings, objectives, etc. I bought my books last week and am taking the time to read through all of the assigned chapters, taking notes on them before the course actually begins to lighten my load. Will let you guys know how the class proceeds from time to time.

Since you have your books, did you get them at UALR and if so how much? Or if you got them from somewhere else, where at and the cost as well? If you do not mind tell us/me....
I bought them at UALR because I wanted to be able to get them quickly. The main book I bought new because they want you to keep it as a reference was $157.00, the handbook (which contains syllabus/clinical competencies, was $20.50 (it's just a loose leaf paper handbook), and I bought the supplemental book for nursing claculations which was $105.00. They didn't have the nursing kit or the policy and procedure manual yet and I don't know exactly how much those are but will let you know when I buy them.

Thanks for responding, I really appreciate it!
I just finished up the first year in the program. I just to let you know that you most likely won't use the Calculation with Confidence book. I bought an older version of it for like $10.00 and have never had to use it. You can save $100.00 and get an old one if you think you need it.
How was the first year? Was it intense? What was the hardest about it?

I do understand, I have four kids, and a husband that just walked out on me after giving birth to kid #4! Trying to figure out how to pay for this program once accepted is difficult, but as he previously stated get creative.... Search every scholarship out there, I know for me we will have to move in with family until I complete this schooling...It will be hard but this struggle will be my motivation for success! Have you asked your employer about tuition reimbursement? Its hard but stay positive its money out there!
